Hey guys! I've read so many reviews and my husband and I are undecided. Help, please!! We love Cancun, and are looking for a new more fun experience pre-babies. Last year we stayed at Hard Rock Riviera Maya which was super nice but we were bored at times.

We aren't super crazy but I'm looking forward to letting loose and having some fun. Our week is July 13th-20th most likely. We are between Temptations, Oasis Sens and maybe Golden Paranasus. We want adult only, and fun. My worry with Temptations is that I'm going to not want to be crazy every night, but then again I wonder if I may want to once I get there! I want a topless option, decent food and rooms. The price point is exactly the same currently out of our city for all 3 properties.

Which resort would you say is the nicest? Age range (I'm 32, he's 41)? Anyone ever book through Groupon/Vacations Express before?

Thanks in advance for any input!!!

First off I should tell you we are pretty tame people in general.. We have stayed at the GP (twice) and once at TTR... On our last trip we split our vacation between the two.. This year (August) we will be staying at TTR for the full vacation. Both resorts are nice... The GP has some night life but it depends on who is there.. where TTR always has a mix of fun in every corner.. plus quiet spots to relax when you want to get away.

The only aspect I'm going to miss this year is the wonderful beach GP has to offer.. So we have decided to visit a similar beach to get our fix. The staff is absolutely wonderful at both locations..

I would say you sound more like you would like the GP. The Temptation crowd usually says, we're not there for the facilities it's for the party. You can still get a party at GP, but it won't be anything like Temptaions is 24/7. However the beach, service, and rooms, especially oceans side ones are hard to beat.

I like the idea of going to a nicer place like GP, and then adding the Boobs Cruise for a pretty much sure thing for a wild time. However the last review on that said it was a lame cruise, so like everything else, it depends on the crowd.

GP had a little talk of the bar staff being shuffled around, and maybe taming down. That sounds like it is not going to be the case, and would still be a good choice. We considered TTR when we heard of the GP issues, but still didn't want to go to a Motel 6 with very little chance of a good ocean view, and sound. Not that we spend anytime at all in the room, but it is nice to go to bed to the sound of the ocean, and you definitely get that at the GP.

They are definitely all priced about the same, and you certainly aren't alone in the decision you are looking at.

Never been to aby of the other locatiobs you mentioned. We also were newbies to TTR. We will not be sraying any where else on any return trips to Cancun. There is no boredom there. Fun starts around 9 a.m. and goes until about 4 a.m. the bext day. The sexy pool is a happebing okace from open until close. Food was great every place we ate.

I haven't stayed at the other places, so I cannot give you a comparison. I can only tell you what I think about Temptation. Also, remember people sometimes get into heated battles on this topic, and feel they need to defend the place they prefer to the death. Often times they haven't even been to the other resorts so I find it impossible that they are able to say which is better.

I have however stayed at the Royal in Playa, and many other all-inclusive resorts. Comparing these(TTR, GP, OS) resorts to the Royal isn't fair, because the place was more then double the cost. We went there for our honeymoon, so it was OK to pay more for luxury. Had a great vacation, but it was boring. Thankfully there was a wedding group there, and that allowed us 10-15 people to party it up. Without them, I would have been super bored.

I always say Temptation has options. You decide the level you want to get involved and how much you want to party. Having more options prevents you from pigeon-holing yourself into a particular situation. For the other places(OS, GP) people say it really depends on the group, but what if that week there is no group? Then you are stuck with it the way it is. To me that sounds like a pretty big risk. What if it is a slow week when you are there. At Temptation there doesn't seem to be a risk, there is always a party.

If you don't want to get crazy, then you can just pull back. I can't handle PatyOs every night at prime time, but if I don't want to go there, Just go to the sports bar. Or it is nice to hang at the quiet pool bar at night before or after dinner. Everyday of vacation is different. Some days I go hard all day at the pool, and don't make it out at night, others days I hang back during the day and stay out late at night. Some days you might just relax, not drink too much, eat, romantic dinner, sit out at night in a cabana. Again this goes back to the option thing, I am not governed by the resort or the crowd, I can do what I want and there is always a spot I can go.

As far as the rooms...they always to try to give you a crappy room at first. Just ask to see options, then pick the one you like the most. They do seem to try to work with you. Don’t settle if you don’t like it. They aren’t 5 star rooms, but they are defiantly nice (especially at the price point). I had no issues with the 3 rooms that I have had in 3 different locations. If you want to make sure you have no issues, just pay the little extra and book an ocean view. (again just make sure you like it before you take it). As in any hotel there are rooms that aren't the best, clearly people are going to complain about them the most, don’t settle if you aren’t happy. It isn’t even really a fight if you are nice about it.

As a person who grew up in the restaurant business, and I believe I know something about what I am talking about, they food there is really good. I was very surprised by all the restaurants, even the buffet. Again, they aren’t serving you veal and lamb chops, but what they do have is great. People complain about things like the Lasagna and other items like that are bad…No crap you’re in Mexico, use your judgement with what you are ordering; my Italian grandmom isn’t the one in the kitchen. And if you don’t like something, just order something else. They have no problem at all with that, and will quickly get you an alternative. Also, you don’t have to order conventionally if you don’t want to. My group of 6 one night ordered 4 entrees as our apps, and then we ordered 11 dinners and asked to double the shrimp :)

The one thing I have heard is the beach at the other places is way better then at TTR. If this is a important factor to you, then it might be a major decision where you go.

If you are a nice person and pleasant to the workers and the other guests you will have a great time! The staff wants you to love it, and the other guests want to party with you. And if you ever think the party is too much, there are plenty of other low key things you can do. And I am sure you can love any of the other resorts as well. I think at this price point you have to expect that no matter where you go, there COULD BE something to complain about. I just don't go looking for it, and can find the best in any situation.

    You should try Temptation once

Very good post ScubaSteve. My wife and I used to go on vacation with another couple. We went to Punta Cana once, and the Riviera Maya twice. Our friends were always in search of the best experience, which to them meant quality of facilities, beach, and food. We had a few great days, but I found myself becoming bored by the second day. I became jaded to the quality, and found most places packed with couples that were happy to keep to themselves, and go to bed early.

I convinced my wife to try Temptations, but the other couple thought it looked "too sensual." Long story short - my wife and I are about to go back to Temptations for the fourth time without the other couple. I basically told them you don't go for the quality of the facilities or food, but to meet people and party. My wife has come to look forward to letting her hair down and losing her top by the pool. She was nervous-excited at first, and it took her a couple of days the first time, but she finally admitted it's her guilty pleasure.

When we don't want to mingle - and there are always those days or evenings, we just hang on the beach or by the quiet pool, or we don't go out to evening's main event. We are signing up for the Boobs Cruise on July 14th. This is the first time one has been scheduled while we're there. The wife is nervous for the first one...figures ;) ...but I'm stoked.

Thanks so much for your input!! We like to hear that there are a lot of options....that's very appealing. We are down to hang with any ages, but is there a good mix of 30s and 40s? We have been chicken and I'm ready to pull the trigger and book! :)

Before TTR we had never returned to the same resort twice, we stayed in lots of very "nice" resorts! We will return to TTR for our 11th time in November and it is killing us that it is so far away. It is the most fun we have ever had on vacation! You can party your ass off or be as laid back as you want and just enjoy the crazy people! We would highly recommend you give it a try ;)

In our 4 trips to TTR there has always been a good mix of 30s and 40 somethings. But, age is just a number. How old you are just like what you do for a living really doesn't matter when you're partying with some of the hottest, friendliest people you will ever have the pleasure to meet, all in one place.
Steve's Boobs Cruise is iceing on the cake for anyone visiting TTR. Don't be fooled by the hotels boose cruise. TTR is adult spring break. No other place compares.
