On Tuesday, Feb. 15, this precious baby was born. Her young mom has lived at Casa Hogar Para Niños Esperanza for almost ten years. The ladies of Cancun Christian Fellowship have turned a former storage area into a large bedroom for mother and daughter. WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED FOR A SERVICABLE DRESSER, and/or donations to assist with the its purchase as well as other items that will be needed immediately, such as diapers, baby wipes, clothes, blankets, formula, etc. If there are any of you out there willing and able to help, please contact me by Private Message. God Bless and Thanks,
Thanks So Far Thanks for the support to date. We are not there yet but have rec'd some donations and commitments. Still would be great to find a nice dresser and use the donations for other immediate and ongoing needs for the mom and baby. You guys are great.
I must say I was a little shocked that money was needed for formula.! If she needs help with breastfeeding I am a breastfeeding counselor and willing to give her some time.
I agree on the formula thing, formula costs 300 pesos a tin and will last less than a week. Nappies (diapers) too, 400 pesos for 120 that will last maybe 2 weeks if she's lucky, when cloth nappies are a cheaper, albeit messier, alternative. Since the young girl obviously has no parents around what she (and others like her) really need is parental advice on how to care for her baby both cheaply and healthily rather than some 'luxury' freebies.
Sorry guys and gals. I was just giving examples of things "often" needed by newborns and maybe I overreached with formula. The rest of the items are needed: Dresser, clothing, diapers, baby wipes, blankets and probably more that I left out. A changing table has been suggested and one of those deals to bathe her. I PROMISE I WILL NOT SPEND ANY $$ ON FORMULA UNLESS I SEE HER STARVING AND THEN ONLY AFTER TRACEY HAS DECLINED TO OFFER UP A BREAST. I think that is a non issue though. Just not thinking it through with my "wants and needs" list. Thanks for the thoughtful comments. Now, that this is cleared up, maybe a few more kind hearted folks will step up with a few pesos to help out mom and baby. Love to all,
Baby I can understand collecting things (clothing, baby equipment) for the baby, but I don't understand why youneed to collect money for formula. Isn't his mom at the Casa del Esperanza? This home is supported by DIF (or so I thought) and they are supposed to supply the homes with food (or formula if need be). Can you clear this up for me? PM me TJ...I have a bunch of clothing from Give A Toy Get A Smile donations. I'll go through the stuff and see if I can put together a package for her.
Hola Nurse Nancy, I guess you did not notice my effective "withdrawal" of my request which included donated funds being used for "formula", among other things. Will call you now about the generous offer of you to donate baby girl clothes. A CHANGING TABLE AND CRIB HAVE BEEN SECURED AND WE NOW HAVE A BOATLOAD OF DIAPERS BUT THEY WILL GO FAST. SIZES N AND 1 FOR NOW ARE WHAT WE ARE ACQUIRING AS FUNDS ALLOW. CHEERS,
