Moved to town a couple months ago and live in the HZ... Our realtor helped us find a live-in maid, unfortunately, this was her first experience and we grew frustrated and had to let her go.

Any tips on where to find someone experienced? Prefer live-in (cooking skills a must) but not opposed to having someone just come a few times a week and clean either.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure where to find one exactly as I don't believe they advertise here in Cancun. Most people I know with housekeepers found them through recommendations and word of mouth. Keep asking around! :)

Maybe the "perfect" maid doesn't exist, but it's pretty easy to find a good one, just as G. said.

    Good luck with your hunt!

My gal is available Tues and Wed and is WONDERFUL. Spanish only but I am trying to teach her a bit of English.

What does she do, how many hours does she typically work when she comes, and what does she expect to get paid, T.J.?

Thanks for your replies, I think a friend of mine may have found what I needed.

We were paying the maid we just let go 6,000MXN/mo and also room & board to basically mop, do laundry and stand around.

I think I'm off the live in, now looking at like 4-5 days a week and gone by the time we're home.

Glad you found a replacement. No one can fault you, though, for not paying enough!

6000 pesos plus bed and board is a fair wage for a live in maid.

I guess I needed to find another way to say it, which would have been, that sounds like a lot to me- but then I have no experience with live in maids, and what they cost.
