Help Cancun's Street Animals - Meeting on Thursday Night

There will be a meeting this Thursday of people interested in having some involvement in helping Cancun's many street animals. Please attend if you have any extra time, energy, money for this cause. We need all the help we can get.

The charity involved is called RAP Cancun. It's mission is, in part, is to rescue and protect animals in need, educate the populace to take care of and neuter pets, and change Mexico's laws so that they better protect animals.

RAP Cancun is a registered charity which is just getting off the ground. The founder already has veterinarians and lawyers volunteering time, but she could use a lot more help. Please come and see how you fit into the picture.

The meeting will be held at:
Tok's near Gigante
At the intersection of La Luna, Nichupte and Kohunlich (SM 49)
It will take place Thursday, September 27th at 6 pm

Any chance that RAP will try to do those drive-by spays and neuters? I think that would be wonderful.

When I was staying in a small eco-hotel in Ek Balam, the owner had told me that there was a Canadian vet who'd come down to spay and neuter the strays in the village.

I can't speak for RAP yet, as I'm just getting involved with them.

But their business plan is multi-faceted and certainly includes neutering as many animals as possible. They also hope to build an animal hospital, but that is a ways off.

 

Who is In charge of RAP, do you know?

 

I am not in town so won't be able to make it but I think I might know the people doing this.

 

Will they be working with or coordinating with Nacer.org?

 

Rivergirl, Kristy would surely help out if we lived there. She loves to help animals. Huh, she would like the idea of moving there. James

Great , I am glad it is someone new, there is/was a woman here that is from the Associacion Protectora de Animales that has been collecting $$$ for at least 15 years for a Shelter and still nada. I personally would not want to waste any time or energy towards her. I am happy to see that someone is trying to do something and hope that there is visible proof of RAP´s efforts.
