    Greetings folks,

The wife and I are finally getting around to visiting Cancun for the first (hopefully no the last) time, Oct 30 thru Nov 5, 2011. We are staying at the GR Solaris.

We had a few questions, comments and are looking for suggestions:

    - First, we saw the post about the time share folks at the airport and will take the advice given here to smile, say no thank you and keep moving ;). We booked the "free" Solaris shuttle for the airport to hotel transfer and know we will need to book a return. Any suggestions here & cost??

    - We are also interested in taking a few tours. I saw the Xplor day adventure online and was interested. Seems to get good reviews and the wife is into the zip line rush. Wondering if we should book online or as some posts suggest, negotiate when we get there. Expedia currently has US $139pp.

    - Also interested in visiting ruins. Suggestions needed here.

    - Visiting down town for shopping, sight seeing.

What other activities can you suggest.

    Thanks in advance

    Oz.Roper

Edit: Just ordered the Cancun Maps from MapChick's

We are going to Xplor tomorrow - booked with entertainment-plus.net. Private tour for 6 persons is $121 each. You could make new friends at the hotel when you get there to get the lower cost. We LOVE the private transfer tours. No waiting around to get the bus and collect people at other hotels - then be taken to La Fiesta to get off the bus and separated into tours to board another bus. Plus no mandatory 'rest stops'. We like to get there when the parks open to avoid the crowds and lines.

    Den&Holly,

Thanks for the response. That could be a viable option. We'll keep it in mind.

Just take a taxi back to the Aerpuerto. You are not far and the fare with tip should be around $20 US. We like the Tulum Xel-Ha combo tour for ruins and a fun place to snorkel. :aktion030:

Thanks for the taxi tip. I'll research the combo tour later.
