Celebrated as a major holiday in north Europe, the twenty four hour period starting with sunrise, today and the next, will be the longest days of the year. Enjoy! http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923
That was the place to be, all right, Mat, or at Chichen Itza, which can get up some pretty good vibes as well on these occasions!
There was a Mayan celebration of renewal at the Mayan temple ruins on Isla Mujeres on the morning of the summer solstice. It seemed like a pretty interesting experience to be a part of, but we had just made it to the island the night before, it was fairly rainy, and the temple is at the opposite side of the island, so we didn't quite know how to make everything happen so quickly to be a part of it. Did anyone go? Take any photos of it?
