But do you really know the difference between them? In an effort to keep you informed, the definition for each is listed below... GUTS - is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the guts to ask: "Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?" BALLS - is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the ass and having the balls to say: "You're next." I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions.
Are these official definitions from that same medical website you cited in Gemma's "Rude but important question" thread?
No, it's not from the Official On-Line Encyclopedia & Master Reference for Medicine, 3rd Edition which I'll have you know was researched, written and published at CSULB. Poke fun at the language all you want, but it answered the question! I even think it linked to a few pictures The above was something posted many years ago on my bbs forums. I was upgrading some older servers yesterday and came across it on one of the drives.
I thought the very next post I found was even funnier... but you have to be a techy to appreciate it. I guess I can be called a digital junk collector. Every time I upgrade my systems, I keep a seperate directory of important files, good jokes, important technical white papers, blackmail pictures, etc... Back in 88, Samsung released the first true commercial slim-line desktop PC, called the Samsung Sensor. If I remember correctly, it was available in 286 and 386SX models. The 286 had 6 banks to install memory for a max of 1.5mb of memory. Someone posted a work around to be able to use 512k modules in two of the banks for a total of 2mb. You needed to order about $40 in parts and it probably took about 6 hours time. That didn't include the 512k modules, which were around $375 each back then. In the end, you had 33% more memory... Or more importantly, you could double your expandable ram if use you used the standard [640k base ram + 384k extended ram + 512k expandable ram] config. And then last month, I was quoting 2gig DDR2 667 modules at $47. I guess that white paper is no longer important...
If I get some free time, I'll see if I can get them back online. They're compressed and saved in Teleguard format, but I think I remember seeing a WWIV emulator a while back. Worse case, Teleguard is pretty close to just text format with a few additional characters. It could be fun for a techie, I've got a lot of info stored. I founded the largest Fidonet based message network in Canada. I signed up many mfrs to the forums to offer message based support. The junk found in those forums alone could probably make a trekkie lose and eye from jizzing uncontrollably. And if that doesn't, there's entire forums on Star Trek - The Original Generation that will Don't know if I kept those... I even have something for the Blue Bay Village crew (yes, Village... this is from the 80s).... I was able to grow my network to the 3rd largest in NA. I had worldwide distribution, but at the time, there was no way to measure rankings worldwide. When I turned 16, I wanted to be the largest in NA... So I introduced porn to the distribution... Within the next 18 months, connecting through routed gateways became popular and killed the BBS. I never did make it to first, but did keep the porn.
