I have been rehabbing a back injury (wild night in New Orleans....) and will be at Temptation in 2 weeks. This is my 6th trip. I’ve never had a ground floor room but I think that would be my best option on this trip. I’m doing much better but lots of stairs, alcohol, and my graceful ass sounds like a recipe for disaster so I prefer to minimize risk! We will likely have trendy garden view rooms as we booked during the sale last fall. Does anyone have experience with staying in a first floor room? How is it? If I request one, how likely would it be that I actually get one?
I would put your request in your express check-in, stating you have an injury. Not sure if this will help. It's probably be a hit or miss as hotel is probably packed right now
And remember if you are checking in and you don’t have a ground floor room to state your case. If you take your time explaining why and tell them you are willing to wait for a ground floor room and ask them nicely I find they almost always will find a way to meet your needs. Just takes a friendly approach and willingness to wait.
Lisa, I really think your best bet, if you are really serious about avoiding as many stairs as possible at TTR is to upgrade to one of the Jacuzzi Rooms which are in the quiet pool area. Not nearly as much up/down as in other places int resort, even for the so-called "ground" floor. Besides, you get the Jacuzzi-hot tub, which can be both theraopeutic & recreational!
We have had ground floor rooms 3 times and love them. First time garden view hot tub on quiet side. Other times garden view on other side but there are about 10 steps up. Must be in our profile or something. Did upgrade to Bash Tower in Oct17 to check it out. Rooms definitely nicer and good views but too far for our liking. Now the Master Suite or Penthouse I could get used to!
Not really a direct answer to your question, but we always book a Jacuzzi Suitte, because it guarantees a ground floor. Not really much of a price upgrade at all from garden view.
They wanted $100/night 2 weeks ago. They said they would split the difference if went went to the sales pitch...and I think if we upgraded our contract. Said no thanks.
We were there first week in Nov 2017, I was recovering from ankle/leg reconstruction. Ground level was the best choice ever. When ever we needed to go to rest room or back to room for anything it was very close to pool and all restaurants. plus we avoided the stairs in the lobby for majority of trip. We will be staying at ground level on every trip. LOL
Thanks all. I’m going to do my best to get a ground floor room. I’ll check into upgrading if any rooms are available. Good suggestion.
