Stayed there twice, most recently in October. They added a new wing to the hotel about a year ago, looks good. It's a three star, can't beat it for the price, I think you'll like it. The food was good and the rooms were fine.

We got married there in October. It is a nice property, the rooms are big and clean. The food is good and it has a very nice beach too.

A brief history. Some people view the Oasis resorts as Cancun savior, while others blame Oasis resorts for Cancun's decline. Back in 1986 Cancun got hit by a hurricane and the exclusive tourism that was coming here stop coming here. Oasis were the first ones to introduce the all inclusive concept in order to bring more tourism. This concept appealed to young travelers, mostly young college students and HS graduates. This is how "spring breaking" in Cancun got started. This young crowd further scared off the exclusive tourism that Cancun once had.

Now Oasis resorts are some of the cheapest AIs that still offer relatively good service. I personally wouldn't recommend staying at cheaper AI's as those cheaper resorts are very scary.

For what you pay per night at the Oasis resorts, the food and the amenities are great. Now if you compare the food/amenities from Oasis to those offered at resorts like Le Blanc, then yes Oasis resorts sucks.

You did make a good choice by going Grand Oasis Viva vs the Oasis Viva. With the Grand you will have access to VIP bars that offer name brand drinks (middle shelf), while those at Oasis Viva get to drink the mystery plastic bottle stuff.
