After 15 times at TTR, First time to the Sens for us. Don't compare SENS to TTR because it's not the same party. We arrived about 1pm at Sens, we had a Sian Ka'an room booked, ended up on the 7th floor with an amazing view and plunge pool. Not sure we would do the Sian Ka'an room next time, most rooms had a great view and we never once entered our plunge pool on the balcony. ICE COLD. I never seen anyone the whole trip in their plunge pool either. Our Room was clean, nice, great shower (one time no hot water). The fridge was inconsistently stocked, one day fully refilled the next nothing. We tipped everyday. The rooms are dated much like the whole resort but we had no issues with that. This is an older resort but nicely kept up and they were working on it the whole time we were there. Steps everywhere, nothing is on the level. This is an issue for older people or those who drink to much. The OCEAN is amazing, I'm not going to say much more. Crashing waves as back ground noise, very very nice. Easily their best asset at Sens. Booking a Reservation Restaurant is very tough, we made one reservation in 5 days, the rest of the days we were told they were booked. This is a problem for them, like many resorts this is a negative. The Buffet for breakfast was full of great choices and very good food. Same for the night Buffet, we had no trouble finding something to eat and the wait was minimal every time. It would be nice if they had a Buffet for lunch, for a quick bite and then back out to the pool. The lunch/quick food places were as expected, nothing great but fairly fast(45 minutes). The lunch restaurants were slow, well over 90 minutes for average food. Alcohol is fine, even with our upgrade we had to ask for the higher end alcohol every time if that's what we wanted. They need to have waitresses around the pool, they had none. They also need more bar tenders to cut down the wait/lines at all bars. Sara69 was running the games at the pool while we were there. She is one of the best! The POOL has way to many levels/steps/ledges etc. It's an obstacle course to get anywhere. Getting to the swim up bar is way to difficult. They need to fix this problem even though it would not be easy. The bottom of the pool has ledges and drops everywhere too. Every pool is now topless, about 15% chose this option. The foam party was packed and easily the best time we had during the day. Chairs at the pools and ocean are hard to come by unless you get up really early. Night Life ends way to early, they need to work on this. There needs to be a consistent, open bar that is outside with music. We went to a few night shows in Kinky's. The Burlesque Show was the best show at any resort that we have ever seen. Once again more bar tenders needed, I waited over 20 minutes in line. SERVICE was ok, there is plenty of room for improvement in all service areas. (Yes We tip very nicely to start the day and then add more $ as they day goes on) They just never seemed to get the idea that we were willing to tip more if they worked at keeping our drinks full. They need more staff, I really don't think they are used to being at capacity. Overall we would easily go back. If TTR's price goes to high at any time we will go back to Sens.
Great trip report...except the drunk people and the steps..we did just fine on those steps...lol...it's trying to get drunk people in those hot tubs. LOL!! It was great to hang out with you both and hope we cross paths next year again!!!
We agree it was an accurate trip report. You just forgot to mention be really careful maneuvering around the pools with all those drunks setting their drinks in the wrong places LOL. We had fun in the night club once it got started. We really had a lot of fun meeting all of you. We hope to meet you next year for another February trip. Hopefully there will be bigger hot tubs.
We just arrived back home last night and totally agree with your report. The staff seemed very understaffed compared to TTR but still did a good job with what they had. We would definitely recommend going to Benazuza And the Black Hole for the experience.
Nice trip report. Going to Sens first time 4/25-5/6. We have been to TTR many times. Do any of the basic rooms have balconys?
Yes, I would say about 1/4 of the basic rooms have a small balcony. It's large enough for 2 chairs and to sit in the sun with your morning beer. This is probably what we would ask for if we ever end up at SENS again.
I would definitely get a balcony if you can. We definitely spent some of our time naked up there as well.
We were on the 7th floor and loved the view. Not all the rooms have balconies but they all have the view on the ocean side. If you don't have a balcony your room is a little (the size of the balcony) bigger.
