I really wish I would have found this site before, but anyways buddy and I are headed to this hotel tomorrow 10/03/12 I hope that all is well with the stay. Just wondering if anyone else is staying here
hey dude - please share your experience upon your return for this particular hotel. Because I am trying to book my upcoming trip and when I search for Grand Oasis this hotel always comes up first. I see this hotel is cheaper compare to Grand Oasis, so please share your experience upon your return. If you share good reviews, I might book at Grand Oasis Palm. I am also heading with buddies of mine and our main focus is (1) good party atmosphere at hotel (2) nice beach (3) good food (seat down restaurant where you need to dress up) (4) single girls......ha
Ok so I am back and I will be as honest and fair about the hotel as possible. The party at the hotel is as good as you want to make it. The sports bar was really good I wish I could remember the bartender’s name day/night guys were unreal. They took care of us really well and we tipped them really well. By the second night we did not even have to tell the bartender what we wanted he knew us by face (some of us by name) and the drinks were poured. Every morning I would go down with a thermos and he would fill it with Smirnoff Vodka as apposed to the house crap almost ¾ of a bottle he would pour. The beach is ok, not really sure what your definition of a good beach would be. Was it the best by far not, but staying at the Oasis Palm (dark orange vs clear orange bracelet) with the dark orange bracelet we had access to the other I think it was 4 Oasis resorts. We only went to the Oasis Cancun and this place was bumping during the day time. We were there during Spring Break so I am not sure what it would be like during the regular time but the beach here was a lot better. Just you tube Cancun Spring break mtv and you will see what I am referring to. As for the restaurant, we only hit up the buffet in the main lobby and it was ok. Was better food then any other buffet I have had at an all inclusive. The good restaurants (ala cart) we were told you have to get up early to make a reservation and going back to our rooms at 6am no way we were getting up at 8 to make reservation. There is a really nice patio by the kids pool that serves pizza which was pretty good, but only open tell 6pm. As for single girls, its hard to comment on this again because with spring break not sure how it will be the time you go. Were there some single girls yes there were, but for the most part most of the girls would go out to the clubs. I would say the place is more of a family resort as there were fair bit of family’s with young children running around. From our perspective collectively the front desk staff suck, they are not friendly or very helpful. That being said the rest of the staff at the resort are UNREAL. I do not have enough praise of the staff from the cleaning staff to cooks to bartender’s top notch very friendly and helpful. Do not bother with purchasing the WIFI which is not included, it is choppy as heck and for the most part would not work beyond couple min at a time. The rooms are not bad, cleaned everyday; beds are not soft and not hard either. The tv in the room is a tinny thing 13’ or something like that. There really is no bad view in the hotel from what we could tell mind you were in there just enough time to sleep, get ready head out. DO NOT BOTHER with cabs they are a rip off, we learned after the 2nd day that the bus is cheap $1 and are safe and if you let the bus driver know were you want to go, he will let you know when your stop has arrived. We took the bus day and night not a single issue. Do not buy any club package from the guy at the hotel, we did for two nights and it was not really worth it, you can get the same deal on the street in front of the clubs and at times cheaper. If buying on the street make sure that the guy walks you in we told him we would not pay him until he took us passed the line up and into the club, worked every time. I know its big write up but I hope this helps you.
hey man - thanks for detailed review. After reading your review it seems like decent hotel. But, I would not risk it, haha. I am going to go ahead and go to Grand Oasis again in two months. I will post my honest review once I come back. Where you booked your trip? I am going through www.cheaptickets.com
We never been there during spring break but I figured there will be more single girls during that time and guys too, duh!! We are past college age, so we usually go in May/June or Aug/Sep/Oct timeframe. We usually clean up pretty good because there are single girls of all ages during that time ranging from 20's all the way to 45's, ha ha ha ha. Picking them up from hotel or club is same thing. But, if you get them at hotel, no need to go to Clubs, ha ha. You tap anything while you were there? ha ha ha ha...
I do agree with you, that finding at the hotel makes it hell lot easier to pick up someone as they know your staying there and so are they bla bla bla, club little harder but not impossible. To answer the tap question it was a very good stay little to easy some nights
