While in Cancun two years ago we stopped at the Gran Melia and fell in love with the lobby area. Decided to do the timeshare to get the $100 credit for food which we did use at the resturaunt. As usual the timeshare tour was high pressure and they left us with a bad feeling of the the resort. However, we still think of the how nice the lobby was as well as the pool area. We are thinking of staying there next year. Any thoughts or reviews on the resort would be greatly appreciated. Joe
We have been to Cancun eleven times now and Melia five times. We LOVE the resort. I have no complaints. Its not a real party resort but the beach is amazing. THe resort is clean and the people are great. We always go out so the bus stop in front of the resort is another plus for us. I have nothing bad to say about the resort. We were just there two weeks ago and had another great time. We also did the timeshare b.s. thing and loss our sense of judgement ( I could have and should have said no so i'm as mad at myself as much as the timeshare people ) and purchased one. I cant stand the timeshare people but they are everywhere not just Melia. We dont do the meal plans because we love to go out into the Hotel Zone to eat and drink and also downtown. The food is great if you decide to eat at the resort. Bottom line the resort in my opinion is TOP NOTCH. We love it. I hate the timeshare people with a passion so I avoid them like the plague now at Melia and everywhere in Cancun. P.S. If you want to buy a CHEAP timeshare we'll sell ours.
Its at the Gran Melia but I will say one nice thing is there is a lot a flexibility with it. There are a few Sol MElia resorts in the Yuchatan where we can go.
