Best buys: Today, at Walmart, they were offering Barefoot Merlot, a Californian wine, for 86 pesos a bottle.

Best wines: For those who like robust, red wines I've got one to recommend, it's Ateca from Spain.

It can be found in COSTCO for 195 pesos a bottle. It claims to be made 100% of grapes from vines that are more than 100 years old. I don't know what that's supposed to do for it, but it certainly works with this wine!

It comes with a fairly non descript, mostly grey label, and says it's a 2010 vintage. You can find it in COSTCO's wooden bin display area.

Interestingly, it was Barefoot C.S. that won first place at a blind wine tasting party we had at my home, where the wines were priced under 200 pesos.
