Does anyone have any information for a needed gall bladder removal? I am looking for a recommendations for a doctor and where to have the procedure, and approximate cost. Thank you.
A friend of mine had emergency gall bladder surgery a coupe of weeks ago. He went to Amerimed and they wanted about $100,000 to do the orthroscopic (sp) surgery (the "mini roto-rooter" that leaves virtually no scars) so he went to the IMSS and had the regular cut-you-open surgery. I had the good surgery (if there is such a thing) at Hospital Americano about 15 years ago and was about $10,000 pesos if I remember right.
I recently had an unbilical surgery by a gasto enterologist w/endoscopy who turned general surgeon in his early 50s. He is now 57. He was medical director of the Navy hospital on Isla Mujeres for many years. His office is at Americano and he does do laprospcopic surgery at a number of sites. Call him for an appointment. 998 846 1146. You can mention I referred you. He does Galenia, Amerimed, General and CAMA outpatient.
Does anyone have experience with Clinica Victoria? Seems like it may be reputable place. I got a qoute for $30,000 pesos which includes the doctor, anestesia, laproscopic surgery and a one night stay in the clinic.
I got cut for something entirely different about 18 months ago. My suggestion is to get at least 3 opinions and cost estimates. In the end, go with the doctor AND HOSPITAL in whom you have the most confidence. How many times do you expect to have your gall bladder removed? My point is that you need to do it right and right may cost more. This is not like shopping for a TV. Another suggestion would be to consult your "family doctor" and find out where he or she would recommend. My guess is that the majority of doctor recommendatios would include going to Merida. In my case I got cut in the US and had further treatements in Merida. In hindsight the only issue I had was that for the surgery I loved the doctor and hated the hospital. But in the end I have never looked back on my decisions as anything but "I did what was best for me" with the info I had at the time. My experiences and treatments in Merida were far beyond my utmost expectations from doctors to nurses to technicias and even to clerical staff. Best of luck.
