Just got back from a six day stay at Temptation (first time) and here is our review! (Lengthy-beware!) Check-in: We were a referral guest so we checked in at the Premier Desk/Office. Smooth check in. Very informative. They told us we needed to set up a meeting time during our stay for an informational meeting (aka time share sale to become members) and therefor our friends that referred us, would benefit from “spinning the wheel” with the chance to win a free night or money towards their stay, etc. Needless to say, our friends didn’t care about the free items and told us to skip our meeting so we didn’t feel pressured into anything. When it came to our meeting time, I went downstairs and told our concierge this info and after a few extra “no, we aren’t doing it”s….they simply had me sign off. Food: The restaurants were fine. If you’ve stayed at an all-inclusive near Cancun before, I’d guess all the food is similar (at least for us). Breakfast buffet was your typical made-to-order omelette, variety of side items, fresh fruit, cereal, etc. Romanza (the Italian restaurant) was by far our favorite. Delicious dishes both times we visited. We never ate at She, but heard good things. The Japanese restaurant, Sutra, and the seafood restaurant, Sea Flirt, came in second place. Both had pretty good food. And although the food wasn’t different from other resorts, it was still way more elegant and classy than anything we’d order in the US! The dessert at the evenings buffet was wonderful. Ice cream, bunelo yucateca-MY FAVE! Caffeine is a hidden gem, although not totally hidden-found right in the main lobby. What a fabulous place to get a quick pick me up before adventuring out to anything else. I recommend the cappuccinos! Just a mention-never did I see the dress code being enforced anywhere. No one came to eat in their swimwear, but they didn’t seem to mind if men had shorts or pants on. *Staff shout outs to Delia and Gloria making omelettes, Lucio the waiter at morning buffet, Manuel at Sutra, Luis at Romanza, and Erick at Caffeine. Pool Area Food: What an amazing idea-have food AT the pool during the day so people can absorb some alcohol while not getting dressed for a restaurant!! Burgers, nachos, and hotdogs were the main items served. Rooms: We stayed in the Tower and our room was fine. Also another “typical room in Mexico” if you ask me. There was no seal underneath our door that led to the hallway so I felt very exposed. Tiny little flies (just a few), were randomly found flying around our room throughout our stay. The furniture had a little wear in it, but that’s to be expected. The balcony was nice. Could watch/hear the evening entertainment long after we went to bed, but didn’t keep us awake. Loved the automatic blinds and how dark they made everything in the room. Yes, there are porn channels in the Tower rooms. Shower is spacious. They leave you a blow dryer and hair straightener. Bathroom fan doesn’t seem to do the trick real quickly. If you leave your patio door open and your AC running, the humidity fills your room quickly and your tile floor turns into an ice skating rink quickly! *Cebita did a great job cleaning Room Service: Only ordered room service once. It was very mediocre at best. Pizza is just ok and the nachos were good. The way it was brought to our room and then to the table in our room and presented, was top notch! Entertainers: The playmakers sell this resort. If it weren’t for them, this place would be a snooze fest. We had a great time playing beach volleyball, water volleyball, and watching the random pool games. I do think the Playmakers make an extra effort to go out and mingle with guests (which is amazing), but sometimes they tend to gravitate towards the really “out there” groups vs the quieter people that just need a little nudge. A couple personal invites could have really made the difference. I must say, they work their tails off!! Sun, wind, rain, it doesn’t matter. They entertain!! The foam party turned into a large “grab ass in the pool” but was kind of fun. You never could see who was grabbing who The djs were really amazing at the pool and in the evening shows! *Shout out to Daphne, Jungle Jay, Sexy Sandy and Pikachu. And Aquaman is simply gorgeous to look at. Yum! Drinks: The drink SERVICE was top notch by the pool. The pool swim up bar was slow, but not because they weren’t working hard, it was just busier. And I feel bad that no one carries money into the pool, therefor those bartenders don’t get tipped. I think the blended drinks need to use more real fruit (don’t they have an abundance of it in Mexico?) vs all the purée stuff. Sometimes they just ended up too sugary and watered down. Depending on the bar, drinks were not always consistent. *Shout out to the best pool waiter-Giovanni! And bartender at Premier pool area bar-Adan, Gerry, and Toño Sky Bar/Tower Rooftop: I don’t think people realize this place exists. There was rarely anyone up there and really, not much to do once you were there. I suppose you could sit in the infinity pool, but we personally enjoyed being in the action more. Quiet Pool: We never sat at the quiet pool/bar area. Glanced over there a couple times while using the bathrooms near the Sexy Pool and there were never more than 4 people. Extra Activities: I can not recommend the non-motorized water sports enough!!! What a treasure to have it so accessible, yet so often, everyone consumes their time with the sexy pool! We went on a sailboat ride and it was so relaxing and our guide Manual was the best of the best!! *Shout out to Manual!! Evening Entertainment/Shows: Great themes. Did everyone dress up? No, I’d guess about 60%, but everyone had fun regardless. Loved how the entertainers stayed on stage to dance after the shows, or got more guests to join them. Right at 11pm, the stage entertainers would leave and just the Playmakers stuck around until about midnight. But the party continued (until 2am!) And the waitresses did a great job keeping up with everyone. *note about Glow Night down below. Random notes: *There are no straws at this resort. After Covid, they started trying to “save the turtles” and no longer use straws. *Glow party-what a waste. This party was down by the pool and unless you were one of the 20 people directly surrounding their area, you couldn’t see anything. Literally nothing!! We even paid extra (bottle service) to sit in a clam shell/shade, but couldn’t see anything from it. You couldn’t even see the dancers. They need to rethink this and make all evening entertainment upstairs. *Topless optional simply means that. No one pressured anyone to be topless and every body type is accepted with zero judgement. Fake boobs? Yup. About 30% I’d guess. Did people occasionally get naked? Yup! Mainly just for random games, but once again, zero judgement. *The Playmakers took a chunk of Friday afternoon to announce and recognize other staff from the resort-maintenance, house keeping, food, bartenders, etc. Loved this! What a great way to give notoriety to people that don’t often get recognized!! *Hookahs and cigarettes. I don’t remember other resorts having so many people smoking as I noticed at this resort. Hookahs were sold at the bar for $40 and maybe it’s not a big deal, just hadn’t noticed this before. *USA Transfers is who I’d recommend 10/10 for transportation to and from the airport. Fast, clean, efficient and friendly! *Covid testing was smooth. They came to our room and we had our results in less than a minute. Never heard of anyone testing positive. *Boobs Cruise: it was recommended to us by a variety of people, but we never chose to try it. *The beach area is very narrow, but very well maintained. No piles of seaweed around and the sand is sugary soft! *Just to the right (as you walk onto the beach), you’ll find a massage tent. Fabulous massages. $40 for one hour. (We never utilized the spa at the resort due to high rates)
Awesome review!!! Thanks for taking the time to write it. We love to read them its like going on a little vacation for us.
I am so glad to hear the massage tent is still there! Last year Bitsy gave me the best massage I’ve had in a very long time…if she’s still there, I’m going to be there every other day at least
All sounds about right, glad you had a great time. Seems like you met lots of the best staff members. Thank you for sharing.
Great T.R. Gloria is the best. I always see which station she is working at so she can make my breakfast omletes. Always remembers how I like them. Can't say enough about Manuel. Known him since way before the Reno when he was a playmaker. Hell of a volleyball player too. All the Premier bartenders are the best. I also agree the Glow Party needs to move back up to Bash. Really dislike it by the pool.
