Does anyone here in the US have the Go Wild pass with Frontier Airlines? We have flown many times from Cleveland to Florida & Cancun, often using Frontier. They have non-stop routes, which is great. I saw that Frontier has a promotion on their site called the Go Wild pass, which allows travelers "all you can fly" for $299 from now to Apr 30, 2027 (20 months' worth) I know Frontier isn't the best airline, but it has served us well for our trips to FL and Cancun. The pass does have several "blackout" dates, which I am mulling over. Just wondering if anyone here uses this pass and has had success with finding tickets, return tickets and how much the additional fees/taxes were for the flights. I fly with Frontier five to ten times a year and most of the time it works out pretty well if you know how to play their games. (When it doesn't it is a complete disaster just like any of the other discount airlines.) I've been interested in the Go Wild deal several times, but since you can only book domestic flights a day or two before and international 10 days before and it's based on availability, it's too risky to work for me. I have seen some occasions in the past where they do allow you to book Go Wild flights a little bit earlier, but that seems to be pretty rare. I suppose if you are real flexible and can do lots of last minute trips it is a great deal. Also, I believe that the Go Wild fares are only a penny, but they still charge all of the regular fees plus seat and luggage. Many times they offer similar "sale" deals to everyone that are pretty close to that same amount. I've found out that having Gold or above status with Frontier might be a better deal than the Go Wild, as it usually gets you free seats/upgrades and luggage (depending on which status level you have). I believe you get some status just for having their credit card.
I figure if I can get 2-3 flights out of this (over a 20 month period) I should more than break even. I am able to be a little flexible in dates, but my biggest concern would be the return flight home. I guess, if there are no bookable flights on Go Wild, I could just pay the regular fare. If that is an option, then it's not so bad; I would have paid that fare anyway had I not had the pass. Here's a possible scenario: Say we have 7 days off. Before Day 1, I check the Frontier site for available Go Wild tickets. I'll book if I can get tickets for Day 1 or 2. Then I'll book my hotel and rental car. On Day 4 I will check availability for Day 5. Hopefully, I'll be able to book a Go Wild ticket by Day 6; if not, I'd just pay regular (non Go Wild) fare. It's pretty risky, yes. But worst case, if I cannot get a return flight with Frontier, probably another carrier would do. I don't plan on traveling during the holidays. Does this sound feasible? I have the Frontier credit card, and have used it enough to grant me Elite Gold status, meaning my bag & seat are free. If I got the passes for my husband & myself (2 x $299) I'd just have to pay for his seat and bag, plus the taxes/fees for the tickets.
