Dr. Wajid Burad, of Olympia Sports Medicine, is hosting a FREE "Pain Treatment Brigade" with doctors from other parts of Mexico and from the USA offering their services at No Charge. So if you, family or friends have back, leg, neck, hip, knee, ankle or other bone or joint pain, this is for you. Tennis and Golf Elbow too. The process is this. Next Saturday, January 26, show up at Cruz Roja on Yaxchilan anytime from 9 am - 4 pm. There will be Cruz Roja staff, in uniform, to direct you where you need to go, but you enter thru the arches on the left when facing the building. If you don't know where this is, it is pretty much across from Club 666, or between Burger King (near Walmart) and Labna, on the right if you are heading towards Costco on Yaxchilan. At this time, you will be screened, do a bit of paperwork, and you will be given an appointment for the actual treatment, which will be February 4-9, also at Cruz Roja. As I understand it, appointments are being scheduled based on whar area or areas of the body you need treated. Dr. Burad recently participated in a similar event in Guadalajara and it was a huge success. You can contact him by email for info that is not provided here. wburad@hotmail.com Dr. Burad is a great guy, speaks perfect English, and has treated me over the years. I have referred patients to him repeatedly and every single one thanked me for it later. I think this is a great service he and other doctors are providing for the community, again, free of charge. Even if you are receiving treatment for this type of pain, I don't think another opinion could do anything but help all of us.
I don't think there is any Steve. Just public service. I am sure the visiting doctors are able to write off their travel costs but it does not affect those getting treated.
Sorry for the skepticism TJ. Didn't mean to put your post down but I've kind of got used to free things here not always appearing as they seem. Great if it is all legit. Maybe not related at all but a couple of months ago my daughter was invited by school to a Sunday morning event where she would receive a free sapling tree and listen to a presentation about the environment and how important trees are. We went there, thinking it was a valuable lesson for her - even if boring for Dad. Tons of people (every private school in Cancun was represented). They talked about trees for 20 minutes and then spent an hour trying to sell us Encylopedias. Even had dolly birds in short skirts chatting up the Dads Dani did get her free tree though..... and we complained to the school.
I have a number to call for more information. Hot off the press. 884-1616, Extension 110. Maybe someone with both pain and questions can obtain needed information. I plan on driving at least one person there Sat. morning.
