Does anyone know if the Mexican focus is like the US counterpart? I'm wondering if parts would be hard to come by. jayg

I'm no expert, but since no one has replied yet:

I expect that any make and model of car here is extremely similar, if not identical, to the same make and model in the US and parts shouldnt be too hard to come by. There are plenty of Ford dealerships and the Ford Focus is a reasonably common car here, so I doubt you'd encounter any problems.

From what I've noticed, the biggest difference here in new car models is the lack of features. For example air bags are an optional expense and lots of cars are sold without a/c or power anything. More amazing, is that these stripped down cars, without all the things that are standard in the US will actually cost more then the better equipped model would across the border.

Parts should be available here, but expect them to be more expensive, and the dealer prices are out of sight for most things. Having things brought down for you is almost always the best cheapest option if time permits. Labor here is generally cheaper, so if you know you need parts get them up there and have them installed here.

    Hi,
I have a Ford Fusion and my experience with the Ford dealership here in Cancun has been terrible EVERY TIME.
They say they will give you the car back that day or early the next and end up keeping it longer - that then falls into the weekend so we were without a car for even longer.
They didn't care that I was pregnant, they didn't care just recently that I have a baby to transport around (oh yes, I forgot, it's completely safe to have your kid in a car with no car seat)!.
The car was new and about a year later things started going wrong. They had to order parts which sometimes took a month! That was because they messed up the order TWICE.
This last time they had to fixed the air con - a one day job. They had the car from Thursday til Monday because they broke a piece on another part.
We have now made a complaint formally - they assured us that the complaint gets sent to Mexico City and someone calls un within 24 hours. er that was last week - still waiting for the call.

I will never buy Ford again
