You can stay anywhere in Cancun. At night just hit the clubs. During the day you can rome around or head to the Oasis and pay for a day pass. Be warned though if your worried about the cost of the various hotel rooms in the hotel zone you might be shocked at the cost of the clubs. Usually about $50 to $60 during spring break for all you can drink. But be prepared to also tip. So it isn't crazy to think a nite on the town with your entry, bus or taxi, tips, and maybe a late nite snack for you to spend a solid $100 a night going out.
