I remember a while ago there was a thread about eyelash extensions. I think I found a good alternative. I started taking biotin supplements about month ago because I heard it could make your hair grow faster. I can't tell a difference with my head, but my eyelashes are going insane! Four people in the last two weeks have asked where I got my extensions done...and I don't have any! So, I thought some of the ladies might want to give it a try. You can get it anywhere they sell vitamins. I was taking the 5000 mcg dose.
I was just lookin into this yesterday, but some people experienced side effects and skin issues. Have you had any negative effects? Or just the great lash growth? I need lash love!
Oooo...this sounds great, Laura! Thanks for the tip!! I think it was me that started the lash extensions thread before my first trip. I get them now for every trip, but it would be way better to grow them myself as extensions are kind of a pain in the arse. I am going to zip out and get your product. Which reminds me that I have forgotten to get some of Shelly's jubblies cream. I'll put that on the shopping list too. I'm not going to sprout a beard and pork chop sideburns, am I?!! I have used Idol Lash serum before (order online), and it really works. Using a different brand now, but not convinced it works for me.
Oh thank you , than you. Ever since I lost my lashes to chemo 3 years ago, they are just not the same and I have tried the false ones, can't stand them . So Biotin is it.
I have a Groupon for eyelash extension and have some questions: --Is it sorta like hair extensions--probably not a good idea because they won't last in saltwater, etc? --Do they hurt? --Do they damage your eyelashes? --Do they look good enough to not care about the above?
Some last longer than others - I think that has to do with the technician, not the lashes. I've had mine done in 3 different salons. I like the silk lashes best, but again, that may be more about having a good technician who did them. NO they don't hurt lol. You don't feel them at all once they are on. You are not supposed to get them wet for 24 hours after "installation" (which takes 60-90 minutes), and you DO have to be careful with them after that, which is kind of a pain. No rubbing your eyes, no oil-based products near them, no letting the hot shower beat down on your face to get you going in the morning. The eye rubbing is the tough part, as I find I tend to do that when I am first waking up in the morning, forgetting I have the lashes. If you are a tummy sleeper or enjoy rough sex, your lashes are not going to last as long (ha ha...the rough sex part was a joke...just seeking if anyone is actually going to read this loooong post). They will last 2-4 weeks depending how hard you are on them. Don't expect your first set to last more than about 10 days because you will not be used to taking care of them properly. They really are fabulous for beach holidays...no worries about running mascara. I love them, but I try not to do them too often as you WILL break the odd lash or pull out the odd lash when you decide you want to remove the remaining extensions because too many have fallen off (gently twisting will take them off). I use a lash growth serum in between to try to fix up the damage. Don't get silly and get the Kim Kardashian length lashes. You just end up looking like Barbie on crack, and the lashes will tangle and stick out at weird angles and basically drive you nuts if they are too long. I ask for a "10" length (although the last salon I went to told me that the size numbers are not uniform between brands). I went to the local health supplements store looking for Biotin today, as my drugstore does not stock it. I came home with a liquid collagen and biotin supplement that was highly recommended, as the pill form of Biotin they sold was only 300 mcg. I think I have about a month's supply, so I will report back in a month! Oh, and i got my Jubblies cream, which I am going to use on my arse, not my boobs. My arse is more jubbly than my boobs!
