Great post this all works until you try looking at Canadian airfares into any place state side. It really sucks when you live near the border and driving 2 hours cuts the fare in half with the same carrier?????
Depending on when you travel, you may find as much as 60% of the people at Buffalo/Niagara International Airport are Canadian. One guy was telling me that for him to fly to West Palm Beach from Toronto was $1,230 and for him to fly from Buffalo was $230. He said he'd drive 90 minutes for a $1,000. I have no idea why Canadian airfares are so high. We used to drive to Toronto for deals, but not anymore.
Sometime this year, we taxpayers may again receive an Economic Stimulus payment. This is a very exciting new program. I will explain it using the Q and A format: Q. What is an Economic Stimulus payment? A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers. Q. Where will the government get this money? A. From taxpayers. Q.. So the government is giving me back my own money? A. Only a smidgen. Q. What is the purpose of this payment? A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy. Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China? A. Shut up. Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the Canadian economy by spending your stimulus check wisely: • If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China. • If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs. • If you purchase a computer, it will go to India . • If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. • If you buy a car, it will go to Japan. • If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan. • If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore. Instead, keep the money in Canada by: 1 spending it at yard sales, or 2 going to ball games, or 3 spending it on prostitutes, or 4 beer or 5 tattoos. (These are the only Canadian businesses still operating in Canada.)
Well there have been levels upon llevels of taxes applied to all travelers out of Canada. You also have to factor in the lack of competition in the industry here as price influencing factor too. The big one is most of us are just dumb enough to pay the fee as the big one. I have a meeting across the country in the fall I bought the ticket and paid in full 5 months in advance for a cool thousand and taxes. The distance travelled is about L.A. to Buffalo. I wonder what kind of seat I could have got in the states going that distance, booked 5 months in advance non refundable for a grand?
