Long story short, I have worked too hard in the gym and sacrificing evil but "delicious" food. So, I am already panicking about gaining more than like 3 or so lbs while there (what I consider manageable to drop quickly). I realize I may "gain" more than that from alcohol/water retention but I'm planning to drink even more than the ridiculous amount of water I drink regularly (I might need to set up some sort of communication system so I can continue conversations during my million trips to the rest room!) so that can be handled. Actual question now that my short story is long! Are there healthy options available? Grilled meats/seafood? Fresh fruit/vegetables? Oatmeal or some sort of other decent carb? I've seen some reviews on tripadvisor and maybe one on here that said there was no salad bar or anything like a salad bar but I know I've seen mention of fruit at breakfast. I don't have the greatest willpower so if there is just a ton of evil food, I'll end up going to the dark side and hating myself for it! Please give me good news! lol :sofa:
You will have no problem with getting healthy choices at most of the restaurants. I know in the morning buffet there's an omelette station and you can ask for just egg whites. There's also yogurt and granola, not sure about oatmeal but a great selection of fresh fruit. At lunch time there is a salad bar, so shouldn't be any issues there either. D
we have travelled a lot and I'm a fitness nut, never had issues with eating, was at Temptation last here and anything I wanted and needed they had, going back this year and I'm sure it's the same,
There was oatmeal last March, I had it every morning. I watch what I eat and tend to eat very healthy and I had no problem finding good food. It's the booze that kills ya...lol.
You'll be just fine.... my daily TTR regime; Breakfast : fresh fruit, yoghurt, green juice Lunch : Margaritas (Tex Mex) for grilled fish with rice and vegetables Dinner : loads of choice! Chicken, steak, fish, just ask if you don't want the accompanying sauce etc. Like has been said, it's the alcohol that does it! :daisy:
Just stay away from the burgers at PO's when drinking at night and you'll be good with all the healthy food you can eat buffet style. Little harder to be picky when it comes to alacarte, but some gOOD choices the're too.
Let me give you a bit of advice.. Bring some meal replacement shakes and fiber supplements.. It's true that there are healthy options, but try and stay away from eating too many fruits and vegetables. That was my strategy last year and I got sick at around day 3. Come to find out , fruits and vegetables in Mexico have a certain kind of bacteria that people from the US are not use to. They don't go through the same rigorous cleansing process that they do when crossing the border into America. So therefore if you eat too many, (like I did) your body might have a tough time digesting them. That said, there are plenty of lean protein options that will work. I'm going to replace one meal a day with a shake, and stick to lean protein and fiber supplements when I can.. Don't get me wrong, I won't be perfect and will sure to eat a couple late night drunk cheeseburgers, but I am going in with a plan at least!
There is even a salad bar at breakfast so not sure what hotel they were reviewing. I eat more healthy when I am at TTR than I do at home. The fresh fruit, veggies, cheese and fish are abundant. I have never gained weight on this trip and I can put away the heavy Mexican beer! I also work out at home but I take a break on this week and usually only walk the beach daily. You will be fine...no worries!!
Thanks, everyone! Yeah, I'm not sure what that reviewer was talking about!! I thought it was weird from the videos we've seen on YouTube and other reviews.
