Hi Everyone, There have been some questions about the new FMM form, now in effect and being used by both Tourists and holders of FM2's and FM3's. I took someone to the airport on Friday and asked the Immigration Agent about the time allowed on this form for Tourists. The answer is that although the Agent has the discretion to give "Up to 180 days", as stated on the back of the new form, THE CURRENT POLICY IS THAT THEY ARE "GRANTING" EVERYONE 180 DAYS. However, they have the power not to allow the maximum number of days. The Agent said he could only speak as to the policy in effect at Cancun International Airport. Do not fill in any portion of the form marked as for "Official Use." Enjoy your travels.
Thankx TJ. I've been wondering about the new fmm and if it would work for my wife & I to snowbird to Cancun when we retire. Appears it will work. Also, I would like to thank you,TJ, Tori, gringation and v for all the great insight. You to RG if ur still around.
I have an FM3 and left last week for Florida. I gave the airline the small copy, which would be the one that the tourist keeps. The other one, that the tourist would turn in upon arrival, I have and will present it to Migracion upon my return on Thursday. Odd thing is that he had me sign and date the one that I have to keep (there is only one place to sign) so it will be dated 9 days before I hand it in. Woe is me. Migracion I can handle. This time Customs will be chancy and I may have some 'splainin' to do.
