Hey guys. Just had a quick question regarding FM3`s. If there is a limit on how long you can be outside of Mexico, does anyone know the exact period? I might go and work outside Mexico for about 8 months and my current FM3 is up for renewal, so Im considering if its worth getting a new FM3 with Mauricio, or if it would be more wise to jump down to Belize for a 2 day snorkel tour and re-enter on a FMT. I hope the question makes sense... Cheers.
It is my understanding that one of the benefits to having an FM3 is no limits on time outside the country. I think that going out for 8 months is fine so long as your FM3 is valid when you leave AND when you plan to reenter Mexico. Does that answer the question?
RiverGirl: Thanks Have heard it, but havent really got it confirmed...yet. Funny how 3 different people working at INM (DF and Cun) can give 3 completely different answers - gotta love Mexico
Well I just asked an INM agent and I have a copy of the immigration law right here. If you hold an FM3 you can enter and leave Mexico as much as you like, there's no limit. There ARE limits on how long you can be out of Mexico if you hold an FM2, but there are none if you hold an FM3. Trust me on this, quit worrying about it. Just make sure your FM3 is valid when you leave and will be valid when you return.
