    My husband and I are considering flying to Mexico with only carry-on bags. We find much of the hassle at the airport (at both arrivals) involve waiting for the checked bags to make their way to the carousel.

    Has anyone done this? Fly only with carry-on bags? The nice thing about Temptation is that you don't have pack a lot of clothing. I'd imagine shoes, Bubba/Yeti mugs would take up a good part of space.

    Another thing we are thinking about is packing small portions (<3 oz) of sunscreen vs buying sunscreen (either at duty-free or upon arrival to Cancun) I realize sunscreen costs about $20USD in Cancun (not sure how much it would be at duty-free) but it might be worth it if we can avoid the hassle of the checked bags.

    We’ve stayed for five night, on four separate trips, and have done carry on only with no problem each time.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And one benefit is the missus can pack her swim attire for the week inside one Bubba Mug.
    And I always stuff a few things inside all the shoes.
    Not sure you’d want to skimp on the suntan lotion.
    Don't skimp on suntan lotion. But I do know Walgreens sells 2.7 oz bottles of spray on sunscreen. We can order Walgreens stuff through work. I asked them to order me 6 of the regular bottles (they don't stock sunscreen in January in Kansas). They ordered 6 of the tiny bottles. Would be a lot to fit into a TSA liquids bag though. Also where would you put your plane booze?
    Sunscreen can run you as much as $30 a bottle in Mexico. You could consider the powdered mineral sunscreens. I use them, and they are water resistant and work as well as liquid ones. Some come with a brush attachment, and others a pouf, but I use a face powder brush with a stump for a handle to save on space. The powder is invisible on, though I like the one with bronzer in it so I can fake a tan. It's more expensive, but it goes MUCH further than liquid or spray so I think the cost works out the same. Cheapest on eBay.
    We used to do just carry-on bags for that very reason, but changed our minds about 2 years ago. Here's why.
    Shoes make the outfit. I don't care what it is, but if I'm wearing nothing but pasties and a g-string, I'll have on hooker shoes! Hell I wear them even when I'm naked! I felt that my costumes were incomplete with only 4 pairs of shoes for a week!
    Like you, we are anxious to get to TTR and the wait for luggage seemed like an eternity, until we discovered the liquor store just after you go through immigration. Now, we check one large bag (usually 49lbs) and head to the liquor store. We take our time and do some samples and buy a half dozen bottles for the week. By the time we check out, we walk right over, pick up the bag, and because the crowd has diminished, go right through customs and to the USA Transfer van.
    When we get to TTR, I have my shoes, we have premium liquor, and we have a buzz!
