Just in 20 minutes ago. An Aeromexico flight was hijacked after leaving Cancun. Landed safely in Mexico city. All passengers were released. Hijackers were demanding to speak with Calderone. Jimmy Ouch :shock: I saw this on my internet provider and then googled it. Not many details yet.

I didn't read the CNN report, but the Reuters one said that none of the passengers even knew the plane was hijacked until they saw cop cars in DF. Obviously the brains behind the operation were not all that threatening. I am glade the passengers and crew are all safe.
Looks to me like Mexican officials handled this pretty well. The whole thing was over in just a couple of hours and there were no injuries.
Were still coming in Nov. We flew Aeromexico last year from Denver through Worry Free. I would take advantage of their free cocktails.
I hate to think that one misguided "crazy person" will have a negative effect on Cancun (and surrounding area) tourism. Mexico sure doesn't need and more bad publicity.

The good news is that (for the most part) this got swept off the front page due to Obama's speech. The bad news is that it's yet another blackeye, and one big enough of a scare that CNN was sending out "breaking news" alerts to cell phones.
