Hi folks. I'm a novice at international travel, but is it common to have your flights changed? The reason I ask is I have now had my itinerary change 3x for my September trip (I booked in May). The first two were less than 10 minutes from original times, but this most recent one now has me leaving Cancun an hour and a half earlier (boooo!). Should I bother updating USA Transfers every time I get a change (not sure if they follow the updates or if they rely on you) or should I just wait until a few days before leaving. I want to make sure I don't get there and not have transportation because they are playing musical flights with me. Thanks for the advice.
No don't bother doing anything until a week or so out. We have had our itineraries change as many as 8 times. In the end it was within 10 minutes of original times. It depends who you booked it with as to how many annoying stupid calls you get.
My wife works for an airline company so we fly space available. Our last trip I booked USA Transfers from the airport an hour before our flight and had no problem. Just update before you leave and you will be fine.
Whenever you get flight change notifications that are not appealing to you, you should contact the airline directly. Look at all the different flight times they have, and pick one that suits you best. Usually, they will accommodate your wishes if you let them know you are unhappy with the change, with no charge of course. Actually, I was always happy when my flight got changed because I could then switch to a more expensive flight with a more accommodating flight time for no charge at all. We have never had a problem doing this, all you have to do is call them up and ask.
Thanks for the feedback, all! Doug - I'll look into that. It was my first thought when I saw I was going to need to get up so early on departure day.
