Okay so we rented The Departed and The Prestige last night. Two movies I heard so many good things about, I just had to see for myself. First, The Departed, multiple Oscar winner including best picture. Hands down, the best movie ive seen in a LONG time. The cast was A-list to the nth degree and that just made for one hell of a movie. Have to admit though, a little confusing towards the middle as so much was going on at once, but at the end everything came together and made for one of the best endings to a movie possible. If you have not seen it yet, go out and rent it, or better yet buy it and save yourself some money because you probably will buy it after renting it anyway lol. Scorsese does it again, makes a movie that people will be talking about for years to come. Not sure if this has ever happend, but Fletch's Movie Rating 10 out of 10!!! Next, The Prestige. A movie that I had wanted to see in theaters, never got around to, and FINALLY got to rent as all copies had been sold out for a while. At the end of the movie, I kind of asked myself why had I been waiting for this movie for so long. Overall a very disappointing movie with very boring parts. The end, again was fantastic, alot of twists that you didnt expect, and afterwards dont seem very realistic at all. The acting was good, the storyline was.....well.....different, but all in all it was a big disappointment to me. Picked up on a few noticeable glitches in the movie as well. Wont be purchasing, and may watch if its on TV sometime, but wouldnt go out of my way for it. Fletch's Movie Rating: :? :? :? :? :? :? 6 1/2 out of 10
Totally agree with your ratings, Fletch! I loved the Departed and can't remember when I have seen a better movie. Prestige was okay..not a waste of money but not a movie I'd rave about either.
You won't be disappointed. Don't get me wrong.....The Prestige was good too. It's just not anywhere near the calibar of The Departed.
Departed was quite good, but the ending was rushed. I didn't think it was in the 'amazing, best ever' class. but definitely a must see as far as movies from the past year.
The Departed is a very good movie, but not one of Scorsese's best. But then again, anything Scorsese does is better than just about anything anybody else does. Total thumbs up to this flick.
