A week after having the movie sold out EVERYWHERE I looked, I finally saw I Am Legend, staring Will Smith. I went to see it in IMAX which made it all the better. First off, the preview they showed was about 10 minutes from THE DARK KNIGHT aka the new Batman movie, the scene was INSANE!! Okay back to the review. I was kind of confused at first as to what happened, but then I finally got what was going on a few minutes in. This movie was different than anything I've ever seen as there was really only 1 main character, 2 if you count the dog lol. Without spoiling anything, basically the movie is set in NYC during an outbreak of a virus spread throughout the world. Robert Neville (Smith) is the only survivor of the infection and he spends his days searching to find the cure.....does he figure it out, or is the world really at its end? Cant tell you that, but its well worth watching to find out. Pros: Very different plot, but its a great one. Excellent effects, bits of humor and great twists. Smith puts on another Oscar worth performance, as the movie would be totally different if he wasnt in it. Cons: For once, I wish a movie was longer. It was around 1.5 hours, maybe a bit longer, but not by much. They could have taken more time to explain more of the back story behind everything instead of just giving the jist of it. Also, the movie was a little disturbing to think that something like this could possibly happen (nuclear wars, etc....) At the end of the day, its def. a great film, an instant classic in my opinion, others may not agree, but i loved it from beginning to end. May 2008 is the scheduled release date, so if you cant see it in theatres, def. pick it up, or at least rent it. Exactly. I dont know if I would have scored it that high But with all the cons, I still enjoyed every moment of it. My biggest cons are like your,...lack of info. They basically gave bits and pieces of how everything happenned, and they also gave that info broken up throughout the film, leaving us to piece it together for ourselves. I didnt find that satisying. I wasnted MORE detail, about how everythin actually came about. And its the movie's fault that I felt that way, becuase their are lil tidbits all oveer the place, giving small hints. Lke his face on the Cover of time magazine. I'd like to have seen the build up to that, a nice flash back would have done. Then in that apartment raid he did, there was a flyer on the cabinet that said "stay out of the light",..and all that did was pique my interest, and they never went deeper. They showed 10 MINUTES from the Dark KNIGHT???? which scene????
Good movie review there fag boy  . I've got tickets for this when it opens here on boxing day and am looking forward to seeing it. Ian
Actually there were two before this one but I didn't see the first and can't remember it's name. Jamie
Rent it, its pretty good for its time (made in the early '70s). There are some differences between the two that are fun to compare.
