    Hi Everyone,

We are taking our first trip to TTR from December 16-23. We are really excited about the trip and can't wait for it!

We do have a few questions that we have not been able to find on the forum.

    1. What are the theme nights for our time at TTR (Dec 16-23)? I didn't know if they are as past weeks or if they are new every week.

    2. For excursions: diving, snorkeling, bike riding, boating and the sorts... is it better to book through TTR or a third party in Cancun?

    3. We realize Cancun isn't the most authentic Mexican city but are there any interesting and fun things we should check out while we are there? We both love to cook so if anyone knows of a local cooking class that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance for the information.

Also, this forum is great. All the reviews and information have been really helpful in deciding to vacation at TTR.

    Thanks,

    T & K

The hotel has the basic theme nights they do every week. A lot of time if you check out this forum members or groups will organize different themes.

As far as diving goes Boris runs the dives from Temptation and he is the cheapest around (you will find him around the sports pool or the activities desk).

Other excursions are completely up to you, your budget and your interests.

There are definately Authentic spots in downtown Cancun (not the hotel zone) but some people say its a little risky to go there. We have been to local restaurents and found them very good and had no problems.

Have fun and enjoy your trip you should love it.

TTR is a very different and somewhat unique place. It is like that of an all day Adult Frat party. Some ppl never leaved the resort their entired stay.

I suggest that you wait until you get there to book any tours.
The ONE tour you dont want to miss is Steve's Boobs Cruise.
Check out the December roll call to see if he is having one while you are there.
If you want to snorkle I would suggest the jungle tour by speed boat.

Im sure my TTR frat brothers and sisters will also give you some great advice to help prepare you for an awesome time.

If I could recommend one thing to do is check out Isla Mujeres, take the ferry over 20min and spend the day and if possible the evening, they tell you the last ferry is at 5 or 6 but you can go back later you will just have to take a cab back to the resort. You can either rent a moped or golf cart. Very relaxed laid back place. We love it.

In my opinion, a trip over to Isla Mujeres, as described above, is a must do while in Cancun. Although I would suggest renting a golf cart over a scooter, much safer. One thing we like to do on the Island is stop into little stores that are frequented by the locals to buy beers. While in there, let the local children pick out a candy bar and buy it for them, they get very excited.

We had lots of fun renting the wave runners - costs about $50 for 30 minutes (and everything is negotiable!) and bring cash + a tip. We rented one and both rode on it, had a blast! If you wear glasses, be sure to have a strap that holds them on your head, I lost mine stupidly because I didn't do that. Get one that floats!

We are going to do the wave runner/jet ski tour in the lagoon next time, and go back to Chichen Itza (but recommend private tour, NOT the big bus!).
