Alright, folks. I found this forum while researching hotels. With our budget, we'd like to keep a 7 night stay under $900/person (even better at <$800/person).

We are a 30s couple, first timers and looking for a decent AI.

    What we value:
    - Quiet, relaxing resort yet nearby places to unwind a bit (if possible)
    - Adult only a plus
    - Good food quality, variety
    - Nice beach area for sunning, swimming, people watching
    - AI, of course

In my research, I've found 5 resorts that seem to match what we want within our price range. They are, in order of apple/ta ratings:

    Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe
    GR Solaris Cancun
    Riu Cancun
    Riu Caribe
    Golden Parnassus

Also, have considered Temptations but my girlfriend feels it may be too wild. We don't mind wild, just not all the time.

    What stands out...

Golden Parnassus for cost, adult only and 6 restaurants (seems like there is variety). "Great beach, great staff (service)" from what I've read.

Next, would be Riu Cariba as I've seen that it is "newly updated." I have that written in my notes but I don't recall WHEN they updated. Price is about $50 more/person than the Golden Parnassus.

Beyond that, I am not sure. This is where you come in. Those that have been there and know the in-depth knowledge that I do not hold.

Thanks for your help. We appreciate it!

From experience, I would not recommend GR Solaris. We did not care for atmosphere, there were def kids there and the atmosphere was so/so. They do have a quiet pool if that's what your into. I will say the staff was great and do their best to accommodate you. My friend and his fiancé stayed at GP and loved it, can't speak from experience. We went to temptations and loved it, nothing beats it, more for the wild/party. Heading back in July, hope we helped a little!

Any and all help is appreciated. We are not firm on just these hotels. Open to options I haven't found but fit our budget and wants.

Temptations is priced about the same as Parnassus. Is this a 24/7 party resort? Would my girlfriend be the odd girl out if she kept her top on?

No she would not!! There is no pressure to take your top off. It may just be the place you are looking for. They have the sexy pool which can be a party, but they also have the quiet pool which may be more her speed. For a little while, then the Temptaion bug will strike and she won't be able to leave!

The pools are separated enough that the "quiet pool" is truly quiet?

Has anyone been to both Temptations and Parnassus? If so, would you please compare rooms and food? What about the beaches?

I've been looking at past threads. Looks like general consensus between the two is that GP has the better beach and T has that fun factor.

    This is tough!

Beach you can always walk down to any other section of... as far as the resort they have 3 pool the sexy pool with swim up bar very popular and where most of the action is, dividing the sexy pool and the sports pool is the buffet restaurant, so that pool can be noisy as well. The quite pool is on the other side of in block 1000 and it also has a swim up bar. It is pretty quite there during the day. The beach is not that far from any of the pools. There is also a sports bar inside with pool tables and so forth to get away from all noise outside if one wants. I am sure if you look for a thread for a map of the resort you will be able to see where everything is in the resort.

we have been to both places.. we spent 10 days at TTR then went to GP for 3 days to rest before heading home.. I liked GP.. the hotel is a bit dated.. but its clean enough and an ocean view is a really an ocean view.. beautiful beach.. food was good enough.. its not a 5 star.. its adult only as well.. I would go back but only after i had my fun at TTR..

the quiet pool at TTR is quiet.. and lots of room on the beach.. the food rates about the same at both places.. but the party at night at TTR is the best.. we found GP very quiet at night.. which is what we wanted..I have heard that there is a good party there at times.. we were not there long enough to find it .. ;)

We haven't been to Temptations so can't comment on that. But we have been going to cancun for almost 10 years and when we go later this month the golden will be the first time we returned to the same resort. We loved it there. It is a smaller place, not really a whole lot goes on at night everyone usually goes out with the staff to the clubs then returns to the Tiki bar to finish off the night. One plus that the golden has is that they have a sister resort the great that has even more restaurants and bars that you get to enjoy free with transportation between both provided all day. Like we have said in previous post we covered pretty much all the types of resorts from dreams to the hayatt. AI and non AI we just felt at home and loved the staff and atmosphere at the golden. As stated it is an older hotel and needs up dating not 5 star by any means it is nice and clean though and we love it.
