Well I've read up on almost every thread for the past 3 weeks, from what info I've gathered, I came upon this list (basically first timeers like me): 1. change a $50 bill into pesos. More than that means you're wasting it. Bring a wad of singles (somewhere between $50-$100 for tip/change) 2. Take the bus instead of cabs. Buses are more fun with all the drunks, and taxi's try to rip you off and they're unsafe at certain times. Also, the bus runs to Walmart for whoever needs it. 3. Negotiate every price. (don't be cheap, but for the most part, everyone has a cheaper price) 4. Don't take the bottom floor of the Oasis, (it's unsafe...right fletch?) 5. Try every shot (purple shit, rainbow shot, tequila sunrise, wet pussy, ..., etc.) 6. Stick together. Always be in a group or have a partner to "bail" with. 7. DO NOT piss in the streets. 8. Have fun, but be responsible. Nothing that is tolerated in the states, is tolerated in Mexico. Control your drinking. 9. Drink from water bottles (DO NOT drink tap water) 10. Just like 7, respect everybody. Locals or tourist, there's no point of going to jail. 11. Last of all, which I know people will add onto (i hope), make sure everyone is there to have fun, and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FUN! If anyone has a shotbong (google it, it'll be the first link), let me know. Found out about it too late. Wanted to bring one down to get people "excited," but I was too late to grab one. Will be there from 11-18, @ Oasis Cancun (i know people do not like the place or studentcity, but it's our group's first time and we're actually really excited about the DJ's) Reviews afterward. You have been studying and paying attention and learning ... WOW ... you have done well grasshopper and you will fare well. If you want to return home .. number 7 is a MUST! And number 10 ... spot on ... don't be a dick ... especially when trying out number 3. You are going there for fun, they know you are coming for fun, ask questions, many questions, you will be delighted at what happens. Don't be a know-it-all who knows nothing ... asking questions gets you answers and sometimes even more than you asked. YOU are a guest in this house baby. Remember that and enjoy!
Very good list. You are a good researcher/learner. Very good bullet points for a newb except the drink every shot one. Don't drink shots from shot girls at bars and clubs. That's rip off. Cancun is chaotic. There is nothing wrong with being a litttle selective when necesssary. Party hard and party smart and I think you will have a lot of fun.
Yeah don't do the shots from the shot girls. You've already paid $40+ to get into this bar...no need to buy $7 shots(unless you're my buddy who dropped $300 on them lol they had no problem picking him out of the crowd every time they grabbed a new bottle)
The best advice I could give for sure would be to save your bottle of water in the mini fridge all day, buy a huge jug of water for like 2 bucks at the Liqour store across the street from Oasis...and then slam the bottle of water they provide right before you go to bed. In the morning, if you still need water...fill it up with the water from your jug. I was only hungover one day in Cancun of the 5 nights I was there.
