First Time single male june 4-8

Hi everyone, so let me introduce myself. I'm alex, or as my friends call me "Tank". I will be going to TTR for the first time June 4-8. My dad set me up with the trip as a birthday present (my birthday is June 6, turning 29) and to kinda make up for the last couple years of crappy birthdays due to my now ex-wife. Been divorced and single for a little over a year. He is a regular down there and says that its one of his favorite places to spend his time, live life and make new friends. I am a medically retired combat injured army veteran as well. Basically im looking to get to know some people that will be down there the same time as me as well as maybe get an idea for what all im in for lol. Will be going on the trip by myself unless one of my female friends is feeling froggy and decides to accompany me but we shall see. Also was wondering if people are going to look at me funny because i am there solo? Anyways, look forward to hearing from everyone, have a great day! :usa1: :mnm:

A good "friend" of mine is trying to get off work and if she can then it will be the both of us. Either way, im looking forward to a great time, great sun. and getting to meet some new friends and great people!

 

I just came back from a solo trip and had a great time. Just be nice, be yourself, be respectful and I would also post on the June Roll Call and the June Junkies board to get to know people!

thanks gothedistance, the more i read these forums the more "i hate single men here", "im anti single guy", "i wish all the single guys would go somewhere else" stuff i see. Im not a creep coming down there with any expectations other than to have fun, meet fun people and enjoy some sun & sand. I'm almost to the point that I'm wondering if i should call my dad and have him cancel the reservation. I don't want to spend my birthday feeling like a social pariah just because I'm probably coming down there single if my one close friends cant get herself off work. my dad loves TTR and goes there frequently but has always brought one of his "friends" with him. Some of the stuff I've read seems downright hostile.

 

Hey Alex, don't worry about the message boards. You're going to be there with a really good group when you're there. Just go on the trip and have a good time. Look at the dress up theme stuff for each day and bring stuff to participate. Sunday night is camouflage, Wednesday night bdsm, Thursday lingerie. The ladies will participate heavily most nights. I was there for my 40th last year and wore a small pair of boxers on lingerie night, got pulled into the sexy dance off competition that night and won the thing, and I can not dance! At the end the whole room sang happy birthday to me, and we literally didn't know anyone at TTR before that.

As a single you will be held to a higher standard for not being totally drunk all day. So, just keep that in mind. If you are polite, talkative and outgoing, without coming in with expectations of hooking up with any of the ladies, you will do just fine. Have a good time, participate in stuff, mingle and try to relax. 23 days away!

 

I appreciate lol I'm just gonna stop reading those other threads lol. Bonus is I can't drink very much at all due to the fact my liver and pancreas are damaged thanks to some shrapnel lol. So no worries about me being drunk all the time lol

Occasionally some single guy makes an ass of himself and gives all single guys a bad reputation. It's too bad, because I've seen just as many married assholes there. The truth, 99% of all people there are great! You'll have a blast and be back often.

 

I'm also going to TTR solo for my first time (in September) and initially had some of the same thoughts as you. After reading a lot of the forum I've realized that it's a small number of people that express concern over single guys and an even smaller number that want us banned outright (as if being a single guy is some sort of crime). I stopped worrying because for every negative comment there seemed to be three or four that would stick up for us. Sometimes a vocal minority can skew the perception of the masses.

I'll be interested in hearing how your trip was. Like you, I'm not going down there with any expectations other than to enjoy myself and hopefully meet some good people.

 

I think you would be fine single. If it was me, I would drag a fun female along. If that meant paying for her trip, I would do so.
