Hi there...This forum thing is all new to me but it seems to help from what I have been reading. I was hoping to get some advise. It will be our first time going to Cancun. Pls note, it will be a family trip. Question-would you suggest staying in Cancun and taking the tours from the hotel to the different places/excursions or staying in Playa del Carmen? I would really appreciate any advise.

I believe that if you provide more information as to what you and your family enjoy for activities, what type of hotel you prefer, what type of budget and time of year you plan to travel and the age group, you will receive helpful responses.

Agree with previous poster. Budget or luxury? All inclusive, European plan, condo? Active or relaxed? Kids club? Rough seas for boogie boarding or calm waters? Large resort or more intimate environment? :)

You can buy tours at your hotel, or go downtown and buy them. NEVER pay the 1st or 2nd offered price. Anything and everything can be bargained down about 30% in Cancun.

Does this hold true with tickets for admission to clubs/bars too? Or are those pretty much set prices? I don't know where is the cheapest to buy my passes...

If you want recommendation from a local, I would suggest buying tours, trips to the ruins, Xcaret, Xel Ha, etc from Entertainment Plus. You can click on the Black and Yellow banner on the bottom of this page for into.

E+ is locally owned and operated by a Canadian who has been here for over 10 years. Service and prices are excellent. If you call or Live Chat you will speak with one of the gals who speak perfect English, not always the case with other tour brokers. I am confident in their service and ability to deliver what they sell and there is no bait and switch stuff. There products and prices are shown on their website.

    Enjoy your trip.
