We just jot back from Desire Pearl and wanted to share our thoughts. We decided to go try Pearl after two visits to TTR. This is definitely not a comparison of the two as they are two stand alone resorts. Each has their strong points. We had a junior suite on the second floor overlooking the quite end of the pool. The king size bed was perfectly comfortable. Room service was $10. Cleaning service was great and two minor room requests were completed within minutes. We generally are beach people and hung out at the beach the first two days and then the pool the last two. The beach is nice but not as expansive as resorts farther south. There is some foot traffic from other resorts but it isn't intrusive. There isn't a resort directly adjacent to Pearl on either side which helps a lot. There is a long wooden pier at the north end of the Pearl beach which was fun to walk out on over the water. Massages, yoga and private meals occurred at the end of the pier. Staff worked hard and constantly to remove seaweed on the beach. We stayed at the quite end of the pool which was perfect for us. Activities start at 10 and continue until 4 alternating between the pool or the beach. Activities are not the main focus of Pearl and participation was with the same group of 10-15 people usually. Hanging out at the quite end of the curving pool, we often didn't have a clue what was happening on the other side. The hot tub is huge and beautiful with a swim up bar. It was perfect come 4-5pm as the sun began to lower. The resort is clothing optional at the pool and beach and hot tub. Most people put their suits on for activities like volleyball. Food was spectacular!!! Pearl is laid back for the most part with enough of anything else you wanted if you searched it out.
For us this was a perfect resort. The CO option with a more upscale resort was the difference. Pearl is not a nude resort. No one cares about your attire. TTR is great too though just really different in lots of ways. We will definitely be back to Pearl probably a twice a year trip now.
I agree, IMO everyone should have a resort like Desire on their bucket list! It's more like an experience and it usually turns into a lifestyle and likely turns into a yearly thing where you can go and let lose and enjoy
