Hi Guy's i'll be traveling with my partner to the area from the UK in mid august for a 2 week all inclusive. i've read hundreds of posts on here since i come across the site but im struggling to make a decision on where to stay! We like the idea of cancun as we both want to be within a short distance to all the night life, shops, restaurants ect but we'd both really like a hotel which is'nt to crazy and has a beach we can relax on. The ones that took our eye in that category all seem to be in the Riviera Maya area, no? Any suggestions would be more than welcomed... thanks!
not sure if you would condsider it but we were highly impressed by isla mujeres and the beaches. cancun was our first visit to mexico and whilst we really enjoyed it my wife and I were taken by surprise at the difference in charges for top class hotels and bar and restaurant prices on the island a lot cheaper than cancun and some really nice places to visit. there are a good few ferries travel back and forward to the mainland and the fares are very cheap. we stayed at the riu cancun but depends on the type of activity you are looking for as the riu palce next door is more laid back and by using the riu palace then you can use both resorts. another I was very impressed with on a look around was the royal in cancun and a great beach just google these places for more info. our next trip we hope to do a week on isla mujeres and then our second week in cancun.
Expensive but top of the line. Suggest you check out Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach. All rooms are Jr. Suites or better. The best breakfast buffet I have eaten at - anywhere. They have several hundred feet of beach and a pool area second to none. Immaculate in every way. Did I say expensive? You cannot get much closer to Party Center. You can walk to all the popular places in 5-7 minutes or less. VIPS, Mexican Denny's but more upscale menu and everything else too, is pretty much across the street. I had breakfast at VIPS today. Check it out. Before relocating here, it was where I stayed annually for years. Did I mention it was expensive? But how many times do you come to Cancun in a lifetime, so why not do it from the top of the heap. If you are from London, you may consider it pocket change though. LOL. London is where the price of poker is scary. Cheers,
