Well, we finally booked our anniversary trip. Going june 11th-15th. We can't wait. So now we are looking for tips to help make the trip stress free. Like how much should we take for tipping, anything special to take with us. Stuff like that. Any info would be great. Thanks
Congrats!! and a belated welcome to the boards! I recommend starting out tipping with a good tip, then a dollar for every thing you receive. I keep a stack of ones on the table at dinner.... they get a dollar for every time they come to the table (to greet, bring drinks, take order, bring food, check on us, refill drinks, and final dollar). if i feel they are taking advantage of my strategy, they get nothing more. The more you tip, the better your service will be. I dont "ball" like this, but I've heard people begin tipping on their first day with a 20. Then with every drink there after like a dollar every drink or every other drink. As soon as they see you coming they will have your drinks already ready. I would tip the made a couple bucks a day or like 20 for the whole week. the more you tip her, the more towels and products you will get, along with towel creatures and maybe even flowers! Hope this helps!
Thanks hammie, that does help. Right now our biggest things are hopefully my wife's passport gets back in time and find out about the company that is doing the transfer. We wanted to take care of that on our own, but it was part of the package so we didn't have much of a choice. How is the weather there in june? We have been to jamaica during the same time in june. Was hot and humid. So we are used to that. Just wondering if it's humid in cancun or a dry heat.
usually myself i bring $100 of singles, and $150 of 20s or 10s.... since ive been there bunch of times, i already know most of the workers there and who to tip. So i usually drop $50 for Fonzi and Jose the first day..... then $10 a night thereafter. also, if you wanna get picked up in style-----let me know, i know a company that gets us with 2010 ESCALADE. already have our DosXX ready in the truck when we arrive
She already had a passport. Just had to send it in for name change. They said it shouldn't take long. This trip was a last minute thing so we are hoping it will get here in time.
I really wanted to hire a different company. But since we had to pay for what was included, so we will just have to use them. Just hope it doesn't take long to get to the resort. But anything would be better then when we went to sandals. Took an hour and a half.
usually they are OUTSIDE waiting for you already when you walk out of the airport. and from airport to GP, its about 20min ride. and you can have all the drinks you want and food you can eat!
We just did the included transfer last time and it wasn't too bad. Waited only 5 min for the shuttle and about 10-15 to the hotel. Not horrible.
Transfer You pretty much have to prebook the transfer from Cancun to the hotel (it is not the best set up to not have something ready in advance).... we stopped doing pay in advance for both ways transfer as it is just easier to get a cab (when you want) and have them take you back at the end of the trip.
