Well, we have 9 more days until we finally leave for cancun and we have a few last minute questions just to make sure we are prepared. First thin, I've seen some people say that you mostly is use, but would it be a good idea to exchange for some peso's just in case? Second, we are going to book a round trip transfer with usa. How early do they pick you up to go back to the airport on your depature day? Our flight leaves at 12:30, just wonderig how early we would have to be up and ready. I also know you get alot farther by tipping at the resort. Would 200.00 to 250.00 be good 5 day stay? Thanks for any tips anyone has. Im sure we will have more questions by next weekend.
i honestly never exchange my USD for pesos..... easier and more superior to have USD imo. as far as USA transfer, it can range for 3-4hrs BEFORE your departure. they usually set it up when you get to GP. thats why i never use transfers anymore-----cab is as cheap ($25 from GP to Airport) and i leave 1hr 20min before my flight
If you need pesos I just hit an ATM and got the real exchange rate. Some prices can be cheaper in Pesos than dollars. But then you can have extra Pesos at the end of the trip too...
Got another question, hope someone can answer this, we are flying out of greensboro into atlanta. When we land in atlanta, do we have to get our bags and go thru customs there? Or do the bags get moved to our next plane and all we have to do is show up at our next gate? When we went to jamaica we fly directly from charlotte to montego bay.
Your bags will be checked through all the way to Mexico where you will go through customs. When you return, you'll have to get your bags at your first stop in the US and re check or simply drop them to your final destination.
Just remember though on your flight back... assuming you go through Atlanta - you WILL have to get your bags and recheck them (though its a fastpath checking). Also remember that if you do have hops (e.g. NOT direct) you have to put the booze you buy at Duty Free in Mexico in your CHECKED bag... This is typically NOT a good thing (reasons we rarely buy duty free alcohol anymore) unless we have a direct cancun back home flight.
Yeah, we had a little problem when we came back from Jamaica. Evidently they decided to check our bags at some point. When we got home we found the cap to a rum bottle was almost all the way off. So our clothes smelled great. Lol
