Trying to book for Feb 12-16. A Twin/Double deluxe is $846.93 on Alpharooms. A Deluxe Ocean View King is $1488. A Jacuzzi Room is $1678.

Two questions..........1) We like to stay in nicer rooms. Is it worth the extra money
    2) Is it better to book the cheaper room, then negotiate and upgrade at check in? Normally in Mexico, I book the cheapest room then upgrade for a couple hundred bucks upon check in.

I would love to here opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Depends on the amount of time you spend in the room. You might have so much fun your hardley ever there. I have heard of people upgrading the jacuzzi room from anywhere from $50 t0 $100 per night at check in. If your there 4 nights it might be worth asking.

We did not spend too much time in our room last year, we downgraded this year. If the room sucks I will ask for an upgrade on site.

Last year we booked the cheapest room for 7 nights. Then when we were brought to our room, our bellman guy asked if we wanted to upgrade for $300 to a jacuzzi room. Best $300 bucks I spent that year. Had a first floor jacuzzi room off the quiet pool. Awesome!

I've got jacuzzi rooms in the past (not at TTR) but other resorts and ended up never even using it because the room is just where you crashed
For the night. It's personal opinion I think. If you're gonna use it, it will be worth it but if not you can probably use that money on something else.

I tend to book a jaccuzi room... only because they are quiet...on the ground floor by the quiet pool...and it's a great place to have a few drinks before dinner. ....or simply lounge in the tub with the screen down and watch the world go by. (if you are so inclinded...maybe have "friends over" ...lol if that is your thing...have seen quite a few tubfulls over the years!)

I have book at the desk...paid about 200.00 for the week (just depends on their availability)...but I rather prefer knowing that is what I have before I get there...

the bit of extra money is totally worth the peace and quiet to us

We like the jacuzzi room for all the reasons mentioned above. And based in your original post it sounds like a fit for you. No way would I pay those prices via alpharooms for it though. Given the time of year you are going there should be availability to upgrade on site but of course there is always some risk, just the risk should be small for your dates.

If I were you I would upgrade on site. Simply say you are interested in upgrading to a jacuzzi room. They will then check availability and give you a price. If the price is not $50 a night extra then ask for that price. It worked for us and has worked for others.

If you don't want to take that small risk regarding availability then email the resort directly and ask if you can upgrade in advance. They will likely give you a price higher than $50 a night but lower than that alpharooms rate. They will also likely offer you their drops of love package for $107 a night. We loved it. It includes the jacuzzi room, a private lobster dinner on the beach, priority dinner reservations, a massage and 1 jacuzzi treatment (bath salts, rose petals).

We spent so little time in our room. It wouldn't have been worth it for us at all. The occasional afternoon nap and shower/change.
