So I receive an email this morning asking me to call expedia about my flight to Cancun leaving on April 12th at 6:00am. I call them thinking it's probably a minor flight time change which is no big deal. I find out that Air Transat canceled the flight on the 12th and they were putting us on a flight on the 13th. This was very bad news as our trip was just a wee short one Thursday-Monday (leaving early Monday morning). Leaving on the 13th would essentially rob us of two vacation days.

For two and a half hours I'm working with the expedia agent (who was very nice) trying to find alternatives. I explained my situation and that there was no way I would have booked with air transat if I knew there was a possibility of the day being changed. There was nothing by air transat a couple of days before or after. It was beginning to look like my only options were going to be either paying around 500 dollars each extra for a similar flight or getting stuck on a flight with stopovers and adding an extra four hours to what should only be a four hour flight.

Just when I thought I was at the end of my rope, :banghead:I stumbled across a charter flight leaving the 12th and coming back the 19th and it was even a little cheaper than our original flight. I made some quick phone calls to see if we could add an extra 3 nights to our vacation and then switched things around as fast as I could.

So while it was extremely stressful to have things change 10 days before our trip and being on the phone for over 2 hours is no fun...........staying at Temptations for a week is awesome!!!!!!! Hopefully everything goes well as I now have 2 sets of hotel reservation (the original 4 nights and then additional 3 nights) but I have to say that Expedia was willing to work with me and at the end he even thanked me for being so patient and reasonable! Little did he know how frustrated I was getting lol.

So glad it worked out for you! You'll be there for 7 days with a great group of people. This will be our 4th April Addicts trip!

Glad it worked out. It happend one year to us though delta and we lost a day in Cancun. It sucked as we then had to fly to Denver, stay overnight and then go to cancun in the morning.

Overall it was definitely worth the frustration although I am a tad nervous about leaving our girls for 7 days. Thankfully we're leaving them in the good hands of grandparents. :)

The funny thing is that it wasn't a package and I specifically chose that flight because of the dates and times. I don't think we'll book with air transat again because while I understand that things change sometimes, they weren't very accommodating. They were only willing to waive the 75 dollar change fee. The only other flight they had around that time was the 13th-20th and they said since it was a different flight it was going to be a different price-500 dollars more per ticket!

Our experience with Expedia was not quite as bad as yours was in the beginning but non the less we will NEVER spend a peso with Expedia ever again.

Last year they pulled the flight changed, then told me that "I had accepted the change since I never called them BS" after contacting the airline, they resolved the issue Expedia had changed. If I would not have caught it in time, we would have also lost nearly a day and we only have 4 days to vacation.

We set everything up to leave Monday early 6:30 AM and get to Cancun by about 1 PM and then leave Cancun about 2:30 PM Friday and head home. They changed our flights out which missed the connecting flight to Cancun by about 4 hours getting us there around 6PM then they switched the return flight that would have us leaving the resort at about 6 AM Friday. After nearly an hour on the phone with 3 different Expedia reps I resorted to calling Continental and the english speaking person understood my problem and solved it.

End of story, NEVER again with Expedia.
