Interesting gathering. We went to an expat event recently at a popular local restaurant. There were about 75 people present. Although there was the expected Americans and Canadians, there were also many European expats present, especially those from the Scandanavian countries. I was amazed that there were that many in town who were sociable enough to show up for such an event. The sponsor had planned for everyone to have a sit down meal; but, she couldn't stop the crowd from wanting to stand around, and drink. (Sounded good to me!)
Was that the one at Marakame? Organised by InterNations? If so, seems they have a lot of folks. Although I've never heard of them before.
That's it, exactly, Steve. That this large collection of expats could exist, without their presence more widely felt, is interesting to me.... All of us have heard of the International Women's Club, but how many know that a similar group exists for men, meeting monthly? I'd never heard of it, until recently.
I've been to several Internations events before. I'm always shy when I get there, but everyone is so talkative and friendly that I end up staying til late! Met lots of cool people through Internations events.
thank you Thank you for your positive input about can cun. I was born there and I'm coming back at the end of February. I have been living in Utah for the last 12 years with no close family and an opulent number of close and great friends. I love it here but "blood calls". I know its going to be hard to adapt but Im up for the challenge.
I joined their forum the other day just to check it out. There were only a dozen or so posts so far this year and they weren't very interesting. Makes me wonder where they got all the people from.
