Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this but I was just wondering if anyone here has stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres? It looks incredible. We will be staying there in June and I was wondering how others liked it.

My buddy works there and says it is fantastic. It is NOT in Cancun's Hotel Zone but you really don't have to leave the resort. You should though. Grab a nice meal downtown, hit one of the malls, and at least take a bus to the HZ which is really where all the action is.

    Enjoy.

Thanks. I am hoping it is as good as it looks. I've never been anywhere in Cancun before besides the airport. We have always stayed in Playa Del Carmen. What are some of the must dos in Cancun?

That is a tough question but you must go on a couple of day trips. You are close to the port called Gran Puerto where the big yellow boats take you to the island of Isla Mujeres. Rent a 4 person golf cart and cruise around, go to Playa Norte, maybe the nicest beach around, go to Playa Lancheros and eat Tik n Xic a grilled fish platter that is unique and wonderful.

Go to the ruins somewhere. Chichen Itza is the most famous and that is a whole day trip. Tulum is smaller but lovely, sitting on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. Hire a guide when you arrive, otherwise you are just looking at a pile of rocks.

Visit an Eco park, like Xel Ha or Xcaret

Do the Xplor thing which includes a zip line thru the jungle.

    Swim with the dolphins.

Go to Parque Las Palapas on a weekend after dark if you want to see how the Mexican folks go out without spending money they don't have. Just get downtown on the main street, Tulum. Walk down the street runnng next to Burger King a block and you are there. Music, jumk food, sometimes dancing, arts and crafts. Try the corn on the cob looking stuff called Elote (Ay-low-tay), off the cob it is called Escuite (sp?) (Es-key-tay) the rolled up crepe looking thing called a Marquesita. This is walk around food. Kids are everywhere. Family oriented and safe.

Best thing is to Click on the Entertainment Plus link at the bottom of this page. They have dozens of options and I believe transportation from your hotel is included in most of them.

We stayed there in 2009 and it was awesome. We were there during the swine flu craziness and so we got upgraded to a room with a 1400sf terrace. It was awesome! We are going to Excellence Riviera Cancun next wednesday for a week. We stayed there last year and liked the location, but trust me, you will not be disappointed at the EPM. Have a great time!

    Not too much longer.

We have a excellence club RTT booked. Has anyone stayed in these, and how private is the rooftop? Also does anyone know if topless is allowed around the pools? The reviews I have read seem to have conflicting opinions.

we stayed in one, there is the private pool,a big bed to sprawl on, a couple of chairs and a table. the privacy isn't what you would hope for. they face the other buildings so your terrace can be seen by anyone across the way.
