We have not been back to Cancun for quite awhile. Is there an entrance fee when we pass through customs? I know we had to pay one in jamaica and Punta Cana.

I don't remeber paying on the way in but they have recently started a $20 per plane ticket fee to leave. Tourism tax I think they called it. You payed when checking in at the airport.

We left on the 14th of February and we did not pay. It might have been part of the airfare.

We've been there around 15 times and have never paid the tourism tax. I think it is rolled into your airfare.

It depends on the airline. Some roll it in some don't which is something to consider when comparing fares. AA is the airline I usually fly & they roll it in. In Oct I flew JetBlue they handed us a tiny piece of paper when exiting the plane stating we will be charge that tax on the way out. I was very displeased with that tactic. We will be taking Mexicana Air this April, I have no idea what they charge. I do have to say the terminal Jetblue flies in and out of was much nicer than AA digs. Was out of the airport and on the transport in 15 min. as compared to 3 hours when I took AA. For that the $40 was worth it but it just annoyed me by not telling us ahead of time.

We have been to both Jamaica & Cancun many times in the past few years, and have never had to pay a tourism fee. It must be rolled into our airfare?

I also flew on JetBlue so maybe it was just that airline. I suspect we all pay it, just at different times.
