Hi I'm finding conflicting info on the web about which plug adapter to take when coming from the UK.

Also heard that things like hair straighters work work ?

    Cheers

its the same adapter as US, JHD straighters will not work as their power is lower than uk, if you really require straighteners best to buy cheap ones from Walmart, only 10 mins on bus outside hotel.

Only way hair straighteners (or other heat products like hair dryer) will work is if they are listed as 'dual voltage'. Even then it's a bit dubious. My old straighteners were apparently dual voltage but couldn't draw nearly enough power to heat up (they were fairly old model though).

Had better luck with a brand new dual-voltage hair curler, and I've read reports that GHD's work fine as long as they're Mark IV or above, when they transitioned all their models to the dual-voltage range.

I have terrible unruly hair. Even without the humidity it's huge and curly! Cancun climate it goes crazy!
