Expediente Quintana Roo: Quintana Roo tendrá nuevo horario: 1 hora atrás en Verano y 2 en Invierno, aprueba el Senado

Did it 10-15 years ago and it didn't work so let's try it again.

Basically we go to East Coast time. Again.

I'm excited about this. I'm stuck in the office til 6 pm, so extra daylight hours are always nice! (there are always a few months in the winter when I only see daylight on weekends.)

Will be interesting to see how it plays out, but in theory, I approve. :)

The problems last time and the reason it was repealed had more to do with parents taking kids to school in the dark and people going too work in the dark if I remember right and the fact that, no matter what the hoteliers say, it doesn't do anything to help tourism. It may have lasted 2 years last time.

BTW I think I heard someone today say it was back in 1996 the last time we changed. And we changed about 3 times in 4 years! CST, EST, Daylight Savings time and back to Central time with DST. And no matter what happens, Felipe Carrillo Puerto will NEVER change but continue with their "hora rebelde".

Not a fan of this at all.

Kids start school so early here (my daughter starts at 7am). In winter it's just getting light when she leaves the house now it's going to be dark for around the first hour of classes.

Personally I don't see a need to change the clocks at all, let alone by 2 hours.

There has been no announcement of when this will take effect. Word on the street is in the fall when we fall back.

When that happens it seems like it will be dark till about noon. So, if I get this right, 7 am will then be equivalent to 5 am so it will really be near dark till almost 9 am.

    ???

I think there is a bit of confusion due to the wording.

I'm pretty sure we are just going to EST. So we'll have exactly the same time as Florida etc. No big deal really. So now it will be 11:30 instead of 10:30.

When the clocks go back in fall we'll stay the same to get in line with EST and Mexico City will go back an hour.

They have it like that in Baja and it works - there it is 9:30 now

So with the new scheme it will be 9:30 in baja, 10:30 in Mexico DF and 11:30 in Cancun - so we get more daylight at the end of the day to enjoy after work! :)

It'll be exactly the same amount hours of daylight just at different times.

I wonder how many kids will get killed by cars while walking to school in the dark?
