Actually, I am surprised that on CC there was only one other thread dedicated to the whole story from the beginning, and it was so darn short! Where's the outrage? Michelle sent me this: http://www.suntimes.com/news/nation/974247,duke052808.article This is a case where political ambitions motivated a public figure to smear and almost put away several young men without material evidence to do so.
Unfortunately, this sorta thing isn't an isolated happening. I never realized the depth of the problem until I transfered to our forensic division and now that's all I do is review cases that involve forensic evidence of some sort. It's amazing how sleezy some people can be and they don't give a darn who's life they TOTALLY ruin in the process....... I can truly understand mistaken ID cases and how they happen, but forensic fraud and prosecutorial misconduct is just out right inexcusable!! Michelle
