This year we will be doing a split between DRM and TTR. We have never been to DRM but have been to TTR a handful of times pre and post. Our dates are set Sat 3/28 - Sun 4/5. For those of you that have done a split do you suggest TTR or DRM to start/end our week? And how many days at each? Keeping in mind our arrival Saturday (2pm-ish) and departure Sunday (7am-ish) are pretty much lost and don’t count as fun days ♀️
We would suggest ending at RM and we split our trips often. Arriving to TTR on a late Saturday afternoon gets you there just after the foam party and it’s also glow night as well so the party will be in high gear. Great time to arrive. Would feel very late for arriving at RM as many folks do short trips to Desire and start leaving Sunday and Monday. Foam party at RM should still be on Friday so that’s a great end to the party with a bit of a wind down on Saturday for your early Sunday Departure. A Thursday or Friday transfer to RM would be best. Desire picks up momentum on Thursday for sure so that’s a great day to arrive with many others and avoid the feeling of arriving late to the party. Hardest part is leaving the party at TTR.
We just got back yesterday from our 4th consecutive split trip. On all four trips we did 4 nights at TTR followed by 4 at RM. When we planned our first split trip our thought was that we would spend a more relaxing “2nd half” at RM but it’s turned out that we really don’t drink any less or get any more sleep there!..although it’s definitely a much more chill setting. As BnK said, it’s hard leaving the TTR party. We purposely didn’t pre-arrange our transfer since we wanted to leave it flexible. We ended up staying at TTR until almost 4:00 which got us checked in at RM around 5:00. Gave us 2 partial and 3 full days at TTR and 3 1/2 days at RM. Four party nights at both. Worked out great for us.
We done both in August. We left TTR to go to DRM then back to TTR. Do DRM last! If not, you will want to throw rocks at TTR! I know we did. I never thought I’d be disappointed about 5 days at TTR until I left DRM to go back there.
Hi guys! Sorry, I don't get the last part of your statement. Are you saying that you wished you had stayed at DRM? We haven't tried DRM yet and wonder what we're missing. We value your opinion cause when we met you guys, we felt like we had similar interests.
Absolutely wished we had stayed at DRM! It’s so much better in our opinion. TTR still has its place and we are going back, but DRM is much better for us. It’s more expensive though.
We've been to TTR 10+ times.. mostly before the reno, twice since the reno. We tried Desire while TTR was closed for that year and fell in love with the place! When TTR reopened we decided to try the split trip, seemed like the thing to do. We did 6 nights at TTR and 6 nights at Desire. Contrary to the popular opinion, it wasn't for us, I don't think we'll ever do a split trip again. While Desire doesn't have the loud pumping party music at the pool in the day time, it's so much fun and the people are just fantastic. We personally don't understand the concept of leaving TTR and chill for 2 or 3 days at Desire before heading home. After 6 days at TTR then going to Desire, I felt like we just were so exhausted from the partying at TTR we didn't enjoy Desire to its full potential. We leave this Saturday for 9 nights at Desire and can't wait. Not saying we'll never be back to TTR, but if we do we'll just go have a vacation at TTR and leave it at that, not split the trip.
SharonTerry Thanks for the answers. We will try DRM and will stick to a full week to 9 days there. Just the though of packing and unpacking and hearing the Mrs complain about the wrinkles in our clothes kind of puts off the excitement of tryin it for a couple days. Not like we'll need that much from what we've heard, but still. Why not jump in head first to get the full experience?! Can't wait to see DoRep TTR also
