Hello, I'm arriving to Cancun this wednesday. I will take the ADO bus from cancun aiport to Downtown Cancun at the station there on Pino St by Uxmal. From there, I would like to go to the hotel zone to get a cold beer. What local bus can I take from there to Hotel Zone? How long would it take? Where would I take it? Once I have a few at Cancun I'd like to head to Playa. How much would a taxi cost? Is there a bus right in the hotel zone I can take to Playa? How long does it take? Thanks!!! Nando
Bus from ADO to Hotel Zone = look for the bus that has R-1 on the front window. They go right by the bus station on Tulum Ave. Depends on where you want to go but, it will take about 25 minutes to get to the "party center." There are alot of places to have a beer. One fun place is Surfin' Burrito. You can have a cold beer (or 2,3,4) and a burrito (or 2). Another place for a beer is Las de Guanatos in Playa Tortugas (there is also one at the bullfight ring in downtown). Here you can get a special mixture of beer called a michelada and a sandwich called a torta ahogada (a sandwich that is served by dipping it in a tasty broth). Can't get more authentic then that. Should take you about 20 minutes from the bus station and costs about $0.70 usd. Taxi to Playa will be incredibly expensive (It takes an hour to get there). Best thing to do is go back to the ADO station in downtown and take a bus to Playa. They leve Cancun about every 1/2 hour and will drop you off right where you need to be in Playa and costs about $3.50 usd per person each way. Plus they are very comfortable buses. There may be an ADO bus from the hotel zone but, I do not know anything about it.
I'd guess more like $80-$90. It's about $25 to the airport from the HZ (depending on where you're going from) and PDC is about 4 times further.
