This guy appeared last wek on a news item about the investigation into a "friendly fire" incident at the start of the Gulf War, where a British soldier died when accidentally fired upon by a US Apache (the pilot had been authorised to do so by his superior who had wrongly identified the British tank).I feel sorry for all concerned, both the British guy's family and the poor US pilot who has to live with this on his mind. For the record, noone is slaughtering the pilot in the press over here;it's just an unfortunate incident.

However, when a film crew interviewed a friend of the US pilot...we got this!!! Oh My God! History and politics lessons required! Though, in this guys case, I doubt there'd be much point...

Just when I thought Northern Ireland had the monopoly on blinkered, narrow-minded, misguided attitudes!!!

The statement that caught my ears was his reference to world war 2 and how the British were sucking there thumbs while the war was going on.

Funny, I thought the British and there Allies were in the war a full two years ahead of the Americans.

    hey biggs-
i've read and heard of this incident- my only question is wasn't there a similar incident involving A-10 pilots, or is this the same episode? :?:

Oops !!! Sorry for my inaccuracy (a bit inappropriate in a post about historical inaccuracy!!!) ;Yeah it was an A10 tank buster, my mistake.I posted it, not so much about the unfortunate incident as about this guy's ludicrous attitude; I'm sure the families of all of the non-US coalition forces, who have lost loved ones will take great comfort from the sympathetic words of this muppet!!! (Not to mention the thousands who lost people in WW2 during the "blitz" in 1940-41 or the brave RAF pilots who defeated the Luftwaffe despite 2-1 odds in the Battle of Britain)

I pity the poor reporter; I think he expected to hear "We're right behind him...our hearts go out...our thoughts are with etc"; Think he bit off more than he could chew here. What's more worrying;they gave this guy a gun!!!
