Howdy! We *just* booked our trip to Temptation. I used Alpharooms. I didn't see an option for travel insurance. The trip hasn't been confirmed yet (the email said it would take 72 hours) Is insurance available? If I missed the option, is it too late to add it on?
You can always use an outside source like Travel Insurance Plans, Quotes, Research, Reviews, and Advice – InsureMyTrip or Trip Insurance - Medical, Flight +More| Compare Travel Insurance Plans instead to get insurance on flight and room. Depending on when you are traveling you may want these options anyways because then you can get the "cancel for any reason" option which I always find reassuring during the hurricane season.
Agree with the insurance. We had an October trip get messed up during a hurricane. They cancelled our flight out of Florida, and we didn't have insurance at the time. It was a nightmare dealing with the hotel and the airline to straighten it out. Ever since then, we get insurance for October trips as that's the most active month for hurricanes.
I would take insurance out especially for this time of year, but I wouldnt use Alpharooms for insurance if you are from the US. Their market is primarily UK and it may not be valid if you are outside of the UK.
I agree with Steve. Most all travel agencies sell travel insurance as well ....for the same price you can book it online....and they can explain the different types of insurance as well. I always have it for Fall and Winter trips. Hurricanes for the Fall and for Snow in the Winter
I buy a yearly travel insurance policy, its about the same as a 2 week plan . I get it from my bank , for 2, with cancellation/baggage/interruption and a million in medical is just $200 @ year total for 2. I can travel as often as a like for up to 17 days at a time. Note , any policy does not cover pre-existing conditions.
If you are a member, you can also check with AAA, we stopped in to their local office last time and bought medical evacuation insurance from them for a reasonable cost.
The day you get the policy is the start. I am in Canada so coverage may vary by country and policy I get a yearly package and just keep renewing it It is good for as many trips under 17 days as I want to take. it is Medical insurance. and cancellation due to medical, lost luggage, ect
